Which Gimballed would you go for

I ran with a gimballed beam and canon for a while.
Very effective.
I tried 2 x gimballed beams but too hot and too much sacrifice to allow A5 thrusters.

I haven't looked back since switching to dual gimballed pulses.

I love my Vulture!

I prefer dual pulses because its kind of lazy mode.

If i was more worried about being efficient, i'd probably go with a single beam and maybe single kinetic on the other, maybe a cannon. Hell, with the Vulture's manouverability, possibly a fragmentation cannon (they aren't too bad as long as you get up close and personal with them).

Fixed Frag is awesome on the Vulture just not enough ammo to justify.

My goto RES ship is my Vulture with dual C3 gimballed Beams on it. I have some strict module management to get these to work, but they work very well.
I can take down a NPC Conda shields with 2 full weapon banks of charge with them and anything smaller is usually 1 pass with the dual beams to get shields down. They are not as effective on the hull, but they still do serious damage and anything less than a Clipper / Python NPC is history in usually 1 pass.

But I have been thinking about DPS and whether this is the best choice of laser weapon.

Gimballed = More on target as long as nose onto the target
Fixed = More DPS assuming you are actually on target

So gimballed vs fixed I am happy with and I prefer gimballed and it suits my style more.

But what about Pulse and burst lasers. Are they more DPS than Beams ?

What lasers would you use ?

I suggest cannon, it is very effective on armour, keep 1 C3 beam laser and 1 C3 Cannon

As a massive lasers user i cannot recommend dual beams (unless you use only one laser and one kinetic weapon).

Beams do the highest spike damage (i dont say "burst damage" to avoid misunderstandings...) but they leech you power like hell and overheat the ship.
On the opposite side (as someone already underlined few posts ago, lasers are very well balanced and offer many good alternatives) pulses do less damages but consume less power per damage unit, so in the end they will do more damage with the same power consumption.
Other lasers are in the middle, between beams and pulses.

So basically if you can keep your target in line for a "long" time, pulses are better (you can choose another alternative taking into considerations power management) while if you can target the enemy for few seconds and then need to chase him again, beams could be the choice.

With a Vulture, IMHO, you should try all the alternatives (consider that using pulses lowers energy requirements for deploying, so it will allow you to carry better shield or whatever you need) and check which ones fits better your playstyle.

I would start the "trial & error" with 2 lasers (not beams) or 1 Bema and 1 C3 cannon.
