Which Guardian turrets still track without MC?

So the guardian shard cannon used to track in turreted mode just fine within 500m of the target. Dont have one, no idea if it is still the case. Anyone knows which Guardian turrets currently work without needing multi crew?

Thats just their rail-equivalent. The plasma charger and shard cannon have turrets, up to large. :)
ooo spicy! well i really hope they get them fixed, out of curriosity did you check your setting for the turrets on the ship pannel? i know turreted can be turned on and off on weapons so maybe that got a weird reset? I know there was a lot of posts about firegroups being reset recently, maybe that happend with turrets as well?
 
My understanding was that the turreted feature of the guardian weapons was only for multicrew with the exception being the AX multicannon. I was never able to get the turreted feature of the guardian weapons to work without another player in my ship.

Nah, I dont have them yet. Hence the question: dont want to pay for the unlocks if they dont work. Thing is that most experimental turrets seemingly are MC-only, but somehow shards kinda worked close range. I dont know if that was a bug that is now fixed, whether other turrets work, or what.

Should be visible in-game of course, but... you know, FD.
 
Shards did fire, last I checked. Plasmas and Flak do not fire; basically, anything with a normal firing pattern will fire, while things that require charging or holding down the fire button will not. So for example, turreted Shock Cannons won't fire on their own, either.
 
if only there was a way to hire an npc crew in this game. They could be utilized as stand-ins for multi-crew human players in a ship and get trained up in skill and ability over time if you manage to pay them (especially now that they can't die).

Then all of this content being developed for multi-player could be utilized for the farrrrrrrrrrr more common way to play (alone) and not be wasted on the majority of players.

but then again, i deal in nonsensical fantasies that are simply impossible to realize.

never mind anyway, I remember why I didnt unlock any of this earlier. JC FD, hire a game designer. Like a real one, one you have to pay actual money to every hour they work. If you need more advice, please fold 673745 napkins first.
 
Are you really going to pretend you find the Guardian 'gameplay' enjoyable and the idea of grinding dozens of 'obelisk patern Epsilon' a brilliant demonstration of creative game design? Surely even for you that is a bridge too far?

Basically, AI turret is only an option if it is a weapon type that has no charge-up time, nor any post-firing detonation.

In other words, a basic gun. That is why the shard cannon can be used by AI, while the other weapons cannot. The shard cannon is just a shotgun, ultimately.

This is probably just a design limitation, and may well explain why "hiring crew for turrets" is not a thing.

At a code level, crew manning turrets would be no different to the current turret AI.
