which laser colour?

2 questions, if i buy a colour can i use it on all lasers, pulse, beam and burst and all sizes?

and

normally i am obsessed with yellow but the purple ones look good on the image.

what are peoples thoughts on the yellow and the purple ? which are the most striking?

If you buy a weapon colour you can equip it on all of your ships, or just one or some of them. It will turn all weapons on a ship so equipped to that colour.

No clue on the yellow or purple ones as I only have the blue

My advice is pick either Blue, Green or Purple or red.

Pink is a bit garish especially close up it can be almost blinding. Yellow feels a bit too close to the generic orange and cyan is similar to the pink but not as bad.


I quite like having Green ship + red fighter pilot and stuff like that. Multicrew will be nice to nyancat the enemy with 2 fighters shooting different beams and the mothership blasting away with tons of multicannons in a third colour.

Edit: of course if you want garish step right up with pink

i either fit yellow or blue. cyan is a bit weak, and the same goes for purple imho - i want a strong colour if i colour my lasers.

If you buy a color, and activate it in the Livery section of a ship, it will then be the color for all weapons on that ship.

I own all but yellow (too close to the default orange for me). The purple is a bit dark, but looks good. My favorite is pink, which looks like the neon pink used so heavily in the eighties. It's actually quite striking when you enable it on your SLFs (equipped with plasma repeaters). I always know which fighters are mine in a CZ by the color of the shots.

Green also stands out well. Gives a ship that Imperial (from Star Wars) feel.

Blue is too dark. Cyan looks better, but I don't use it on the SRVs because it's close (if not the same) as their default color.

All 3 of my CMDRs have all weapons colors. Purple was disappointing since it just looked like a dull bluish shade of white. Red looked pink, but green looks green. Green helps me differentiate my weapons when they hit the target, especially when the target is taking multiple hits. I find it useful.

its a pitty you can't color your weapons individually -
green plasma bolts and yellow beams, toppled by blue quantum torps


btw, you can even assign a keybind to activate/deactivate the color override dynamically (happens between firebursts though)
edit: and you can even do the same for the engine trail color override - you just cant buy any of those yet

Yes. You equip it in outfitting (or not) and it can be toggled off on the side panel (it has an entry on the power management tab)

You can set different colours for each ship, fighter and SRV, but not individual weapons.

You seek screenshots, or you could hang around Shinrarta asking for a demo. I only have the purple meself.

i am not sure the PvP people would like that.... would not effect me as its not my thing but would be a massive P2W advantage (missed laser fire gives away the rough position of the ship chasing you)

could be fun for stealth build tho

I for one went with blue lasers to get more a feeling of power when firing, though looking back maybe cyan would've been a better choice. There's only a limit to how powerful a class 3 gimballed pulse can get.

Green is my favourite, although hoping one day FD make a rainbow one, then ill find the NPC Putin and shoot him with it and make him fabulous!
