Not interested in bashing either one.. just want to know whether you prefer A or B

Erm, B is Horizons, and not at all over-coloured compared to the image of Io I linked above.(A, Horizons) looks like the right balance. (B, Odyssey) looks over-colored.
We'll have to agree to disagree on that one. I appreciate good artistry, and with a canvas as breathtaking as the Milky Way, a combination of visuals, immersion and gameplay works best. But as the saying goes, different strokes for different folks.what does it matter if they look more realistic or less realistic if the end result is that they dont serve any purpose in game except taking screenshots to argue about how realistic they look?
the looks are just a distraction from the issue that there's no reason to land on that planet and do anything there because what you can do there is the same everywhere and it's absolutely indistinct as far as the game is concerned. Despite planets being unique, there is nothing unique you do on them and the game doesn't care about what you did on it or where you did it. The uniqueness is superficial and ultimately pointless.

I don't see that as an issue. I see that as a sample of what things are really like, which makes Elite one of the few video games that tries to convey that. Do you expect each Wal-Mart Supercenter you visit to have unique activities that you will only find at that location? What about if you go on a road trip, and look at a nondescript hill with trees that's the same whether you're in Missouri or Pennsylvania?the looks are just a distraction from the issue that there's no reason to land on that planet and do anything there because what you can do there is the same everywhere and it's absolutely indistinct as far as the game is concerned.
