Just to update my previous post, I have now rx my x52 pro.

The overall sensitivity, precision and feel are much improved over
the non pro version. Much prefer the pro version.

Only disappointment was the three buttons on the x52 throttle base
(very handy for systems engines weapons control) are not present
on the pro version. However now I'm using VA so control distribution that
way.

Well I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I feel like a complete infant. First off it took me all night last night to install windows and bootcamp with many problems along the way. This afternoon I finally got Elite installed, but couldn't complete the first tutorial because my Saitek X52 pro had absolutely no button allocated to scrolling down the menu page making it so I couldn't request docking. This I soon realised was because I hadn't set a profile yet.

This brings me to today's saga, whereby it wouldn't let me instal the profile programme because a certain driver was invalid. I went to Saiteks site and installed the latest and have basically got to a point where my entire Windows partition has stopped working and I'm running a system restore.

I have been so incredibly excited about this game, but my ineptitude is wondering whether I've made a bit of a mistake spending upward of £300 so far on a game that I've logged about three minutes flight time. :(

There is a Saitek setup profile in the Controls menu (it is actually a X52 pro setup)... It should work fine by default, since I have a Oculus rift, I changed a few stuff tho. but that setup should work fine.

I have the normal X52 and I am totally satisfied with it.

While the X52 Pro has a few nice additional features (being able to control the lbutton lighting in order to serve as status indicators ... and the screen at the throttle being controllable) I don´t need those features so badly that I would want to pay the higher price for the Pro-Version

So sounds like Pro is one to go for then... been pondering the diff between the 2 myself???

You can't go wrong with one of the X52's. however I purchased the X52, after about 3 weeks of use the 75% throttle indent stopped working (able to push throttle to 75% but would not go past the indent). I had read about this issue prior to buying on the interweb, but not all were affected so I hoped for the best. The replacement lasted 3 days with same problem. I am now on my 3rd X52 but am waiting for my X52 pro I ordered from Frontier. I intend to return my X52 when my X52 pro arrives.

Can't offer anything else as the X52 is the only controller I have used (apart from keyboard & mouse)

I have an X52 Pro, and have had a similar issue with that inasmuch as the click that goes to zero now goes clunk and it won't zero at all. I worked around it by altering the deadzones but have ordered a new one nevertheless. That is about 6 months worth of wear causing it, though I did think I was gentle with the throttle.

I (and others) have had lots of problems with the X52 Pro and USB3 (XHCI) - see https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=57646&p=989008
It totally borked my Windows 7 box, wouldn't boot, wouldn't shutdown, would crash horribly until I disabled XHCI.

I have an x52pro and it works amazingly well. I guess it all comes down to finance but the cheaper x52/pro is more than adequate. I've used a friends x55 rhino and it does feel a little more solid but obviously costs more. The standard x52 control template works pretty well too, I only had to customise a couple of options.
