Which ship is Elite's answer to the Millennium Falcon?

I don't think we've ever had this discussion in the Xbox boards. And all the discussions I have seen on this question over in DD pre-date 1.5. So some more recent vessels haven't been considered.

What is your opinion on the question in the title?

I myself consider the Cobra Mk III to be "Elite's Millennium Falcon".

Why? Well, for one, the two ships are very similar in size. They also share a similar cockpit, with two pilot stations.

The Millennium Falcon was a light trading ship before it was modified... The Cobra Mk III is a similar story. It excels at light trading, and responds well to the Engineers.

Potential armament on the two ships is similar. Neither are thoroughbred fighters... But they are survivable.

Both are regarded as excellent smuggling ships.

Both have room to fit a land vehicle inside, if memory serves. (I believe that the Millennium Falcon had one cargo hold that had a door lower from the belly, and could accommodate a landspeeder)

Both ships are incredibly fast.

That's all I've got for now.

Which ship do you think is Elite's Millennium Falcon? I look forward to the discussion.

Even after reading just the title my mind was exactly on the Mk.III

Possibly I'd consider the Cobra Mk.IV, cause -as Han Solo said- it takes some very personal modifications to make it a very special ship.

Yeah I agree Cobra Mk. III would be my vote as the closest ship to the MF.

I would love for a more similar type ship though - with an off-centre cockpit.

I was certainly expecting the Cobra Mk III & Asp Explorer to be the most popular choices.

I think the furthest you could stretch that line of reasoning would be the type-6 though because the MF was way smaller then people seem to think.

Edit: Good thought though.

If you Google Image "Cobra Mk III Millennium Falcon comparison", you should find a side by side picture of the two ships.

For me it's the aspx definitely, it might be technically oversized but for me cobra3 doesn't really fit the profile of clunky old cargo lugger, it flies more like a fighter / hauler hybrid.

The aspx fits the bill by a) looking like a turkey, b) being a bit of a lumberer but can shift it when she wants, especially when modified (this baby has a few tricks up her sleeve) & c) enough hardpoints / utilities for a variety of whacky countermeasures.

aye. but i do remember a good scene with the Falcon flying among other ships, it looked pretty big compared to the fighters. And before someone says it, yea I'm open to putting an X-Wing or TIE fighter in the same class as a Condor, but the jury is still out on that one.
I don't however remember the Falcon having any guns, besides the manned-turrets similar to a B-17/B-25 variety. So there's that.

As well as the famous turrets, the Millennium Falcon also had missile launchers between the forward nacelles.
