Newcomer / Intro Which system is good?

Love this game. but i was wondering which system is good to be. I mean Hi tech. like in old elite there were few main systems. in this game.... too many systems. where to go?

I use the economy filter to search for High Tech systems located in my faction's territory. Then I include Agriculture, Industry, and Refinery in the economy filter, to see which of the High Tech systems have the closest proximity to those other economy type systems. Then I go with the option where the majority of those systems have allegiance to my faction. A few other factors are also involved, such as how long it takes to travel from the nav beacon to the interesting stations in those systems, the population sizes, and whether there's a black market nearby. The availability of rare goods is another big plus.

Gaining reputation with the three main factions tends to take a very long time, so in the beginning it's better to focus on gaining reputation with subfactions that are loyal to the main faction you want to support. Eventually, once you've become Friendly and/or Allied with a number of subfactions, your main faction reputation will shift to Friendly.

You gain reputation with subfactions by completing missions from them on the bulletin board, by purchasing and selling commodities at stations they control, by turning in bounties and exploration data at stations they control, etc.

The faction menu on the right-hand UI displays the subfactions relevant to the system you're in, and which main faction they're loyal to. When you've done something which increases reputation with them, a small blue arrow will appear next to their name.

Further refine using the Galaxy Map to turn off all other economy types than High Tech - this will show the remaining systems in light blue, and for added value use the Population slider bar (just under the list of economy types) to select the High Techs with larger populations.

Wow very thorough posts ther..+1 to Rep... what he said :)

I wouldn't look for good systems so much as good areas. Pick a patch of space with a good mix of systems and economy types, ideally high population ones, and if some of those systems are owned by a faction that you want to gain rep with then so much the better.

Basically, do this.

Lave is nice, the area around Eranin has a good mix of systems, the capital areas have some stuff. But mostly use the filters on the galaxy map to find a region that looks interesting and hang out there for a while.
