Newcomer / Intro Which systems are most likely to have massacre missions?

It's not that simple, but this tool helps you find candidates. After that it's up to you to become allied and etc. States also change, so you may need to move on for a while to another place.

PS Be sure to actually read the instructions and info linked at the top of that form. Explains things.

That's a great but I'm missing somethings
The results don't show the main target factions to go for, of which there are many?
Not sure why the focus on the targets being in the same system since it only takes a few seconds to jump?
Just jumped to a system that only has 1 station and 1 source of missions?
When I was running massacre missions I aimed for systems with at least 3 stations, close to the arrival point, to pick up as many missions as possible in the sheerest time, and often picked up missions from neighbouring systems with the same targets. I didn't care where the targets were because it's only a few seconds jump away. I can't figure out the benefit of this database at all?

The whole point is to only have one pirate faction close by, so all massacre missions (from all the other factions on the neighboring systems) target it and you can overlap them. Meaning killing 50 ships and they count for every mission you took, so better money, less time!

Didn't bother to actually read the info that's linked at the top of the form, eh? I told ya to read it.

Here's a quote from it, since I guess it's too much bother for you to actually go there and read it.

"As some people know, the "Massacre pirates" missions can stack, but only when taken from different minor factions to kill pirates of the same faction. That is, if you take five missions to kill 10 pirates of a certain faction from five different minor factions, you only have to kill 10 pirates to complete them all and get paid for five missions."

That's what the tool is all about -- identifying systems where there is just one pirate faction in range, so that multiple factions will issue missions that target that one pirate faction. You know, so you can stack them, and get paid more for each kill.

Now go back and read the rest of the info that's there. Geez.

Also be aware that war and civil war states stop factions from giving out massacre missions.

There are a few systems that almost always spawn massacre missions. My preferred system is Ebor, which targets Wolf 1241 Raiders. The factions from Ross 376 also target the pirates in 1241, so if you want to you can stack up quite a few missions. I never bother though, I just get a bunch of missions from Morris Enterprise in Ebor (orbiting the first planet) when I fancy some bounty hunting. Wolf 1241 also has a very convenient HazRes at planet 2 50 ls out from the star, where I usually park my carrier. All in all very convenient and short travel times.

That said, I'm there right now and two factions are at war, and only one other factions spawns massacre missions. Tough luck, but in three or four days things should be back to normal.

So the search results from the dB show the system which contains the target factions and not the mission system? I'll give that another look
Just had another look and search results include size of landing pad which is irrelevant to targets so must be referring to mission sources, and as I said it's not important to have mission sources in one system. So definitely not the way I've been stacking massacre missions.

Why do the search results on this database refer to landing pads when it's supposed to be about the target destination anyone got a clue?

When i last play elite, the key thing about massacre missions was stacking them, and the best way to do that was to pick up as many missions as possible from as many space stations as possible with the same target from different factions, and when I used to haul 80 million an hour average I was always scoring at least 15 times the reward for 15 different factions, this database seems to point to one source station and you are certainly not going to get 15, 16, 17, missions from different factions on that basis so what is it that I'm missing?

Things get changed by FDev over time. It is always a mistake to assume that what used to be the easy way to grind credits still works if there have been any updates since you last played.

At one time massacre missions would accept any pirate so shooting one pirate ship would count for all missions, this was changed so the pirate only counted for the missions specifying that pirates faction meaning you now have to shoot many more ships which is fun if you want to shoot ships but not good if you want to be boring and grind.

As has been said the trick for stacking for least effort is to find a system with lots of factions but only one lot of pirates.

Look at this search result.

1) The site gives you the combination of systems that have the correct prerequisites to spawn massacre missions to one and only one system. The target faction is always the target system's local pirate faction.

2) "Source System" is the system where you can pick up your missions. The "Target/Sources" column gives you the system of the target faction and if there are multiple source systems targeting the target system. For instance, the pirate faction in Wolf 1241 is targeted by factions in Ebor and Ross 376, thus the "/2" in the list. If you click on the "/2" you get a list of mission systems and factions giving missions to your target system.

3) The pad columns tell you what pads are available in the mission giving system (and how far they are from the main star). This is so you know that you cannot pick up or hand in missions with your battle corvette if there are only outposts. It also tells you the number of Federal, Imperial, Alliance and independent factions present in the source system, in case that's important for you (role playing, BGS reasons, rank grinding).

4) You still want to stack as many missions as possible, but as a source system has only 3 to 7 factions or so, the missions counting in parallel are limited to that number. Also, stations in the same system might be populated by the same factions, so there may be no gain getting missions from multiple stations in one system.

This is why the information about how many sources are for a target system is important; for example, if you look again at the search result linked above, you can see that Wakandiini is targeted by three systems. If you click on the "/3" link, you get this result:

Screenshot 2022-09-03 161046.png

You can see that 15 different factions spread over three systems potentially target the pirates in Wakandiini. So potentially each mission target kill can count for 15 massacre missions.

5) Again, that doesn't mean all that is guaranteed. It depends on other factors like war states if massacre missions spawn at all. The edtools page doesn't look at faction states, it only looks at what system combinations have the potential to spawn massacre missions.

Yeap sure sounds like a kick start to massacre missions, like I said, I didn't use any tools, I just looked for systems with 3/4 stations close to the entry point, 4 stations X 8 factions = 32 possible missions for the same targets, sometimes picked up missions from other close by systems, often ended up stacking 15+ missions. I kept a tally on paper to record which factions gave me missions, crossed them off when I cashed them in. Thanks for the description. I'll definitely give it a whirl to see if it's better. 👍
