Which version of Odyssey do I get...

With the Lifetime Expansion Pass?

I see on Steam that there is:

Deluxe Alpha Expansion
Contains: ⦁ Elite Dangerous: Odyssey ⦁ Access to the Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Alpha. ⦁ Elite Dangerous: Odyssey OST

Pre-order Bonus: ⦁ Gain access to the exclusive Pioneer suit skin.

So, considering I paid for this, errrrrrr.... 7 years ago, does that count as a "pre-order"?
Do I get the Alpha access?

Cheers

Alpha – early spring 2021
We are continuing with plans to bring Alpha access to our PC players and get boots on the ground. This will now be a little later than originally planned, in early spring.

Much like our original Elite Dangerous release, we will be taking a phased approach to our Alpha, bringing new features and systems online throughout the period. This will allow us to focus and best consider our community feedback while also providing vital user testing on key areas of the game. We will be sharing further information including details of feature drops and Alpha plans as we get closer to release.

Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Deluxe Alpha and Lifetime Expansion Pass holders will get access to this release.

Ooooo, nice one :p

I can't remember when exactly I first heard about the "walking on stations" feature... was it mentioned on Kickstarter?
One of the few updates that I've really been looking forward to and to be honest, I thought might never arrive!

But here it comes

Nevermind, I've found the launcher 😬

Irritatingly Elite on Steam can open 2 different ways. Sometimes with a Steam option and sometimes without.

This time it went straight to the Elite launcher!

if you purchased ED from Frontier then you dont need steam, you can launch ED without steam running

if you purchase ED after iirc 2016 from steam then iirc steam needs to be running to launch ED using the EDLaunch.exe

Wrong, the cutoff date is April 2019.

ED accounts created on or after April 2019 are bound to the distributor (Frontier Store, Steam, Epic, Oculus) they are purchased from. Only accounts before that date are dual-licensed (Steam and Frontier Store).

I didn't think I could still run it without Steam.
I bought it on kickstarter then transferred it to steam a few years back.

Doesn't matter, you can still run Elite from a non-steam installation - all that matters is that the game was bought from the Frontier Store - you didn't "transfer" it, you just registered it so that you could put it in your Steam library and run it from there. The April 26th 2019 date is the date that purchases on the Steam platform became "no-CD-key" versions after that date and so could only be run by logging-in via Steam.
