Which VR Sets have FDev verified to be working in ED?

Which VR Sets have FDev verified to be working in ED?
Is there a list somewhere?

If you as commander reading this, and you are using VR can you tell med what kind of setup you are using with ED and how you would grade your experience with it?

The VR sub-forum would probably be a better info source for you - I think virtually all headsets have been tried with Elite:

1) no idea

2) started with Oculus Rift CV1, now using HP Reverb 1. No issues between ED and either of these. Setup of HP Reverb was a bit bumpy (installation of SteamVR, then switch to beta branch), I can't remember if the Rift installation was any less bumpy, though (as I was not using the Oculus store version of ED).
Had more issues with the Rift and its tracking cameras than now with the Reverb - but in either cases an occasional reboot of the PC is necessary. Right now (i.e. before today - I got a new Windows update today), my Reverb setup had more crashes than my Rift setup - but that may also be due to the overall system, I probably should update my motherboard BIOS and its drivers one of these days (Asus B550, after installation I also had problems with audio drivers occasionally grabbing up to 50% CPU...).

Visually, the Reverb is miles ahead of the Rift - but I guess you knew that already. A hefty GPU is needed - I'm (now) running a Ryzen 7 3800 with a GTX1080ti, watercooled, and the GPU is struggling to keep up the FPS, especially in multiplayer PvP scenarios - visiting the Ghost Ship in open was not a pleasure. Since I don't care too much about PvP (and none at all about unvoluntary PvP), switching to PG/solo usually fixes that. I'm waiting for reviews and benchmarks for the AMD 6800 vs. RTX 3080 (and waterblocks for the 6800...) before deciding what to uprgade to.

I am using an Oculus Rift S and it works really well with Elite. My only gripe with the headset is that you are now required to have a Facebook account to use it. If you had an Oculus account from the start, you will slowly be merged over to your Facebook account, assuming you have one. If you don't merge, you simply can't use the headset as of 2023 I think. Bit lame. But the head tracking works really well and there is no need for external sensors. The image quality is great, not much in the way of screen door effect.

That’s not quite what they’ve said -

If you choose not to merge your accounts at that time, you can continue using your device, but full functionality will require a Facebook account. We will take steps to allow you to keep using content you have purchased, though we expect some games and apps may no longer work. This could be because they include features that require a Facebook account or because a developer has chosen to no longer support the app or game you purchased. All future unreleased Oculus devices will require a Facebook account, even if you already have an Oculus account.”

That says to me that games requiring social or matchmaking stuff probably won’t work, and you’ll be stuffed if you want to purchase new games. It’ll be interesting to see how it goes forward with VR games that only use the Oculus runtime, like ED and SteamVR games.

Thanks for fully clarifying!

I can see many moving away from Oculus because of that facebook requirement. If your facebook account ever gets suspended or removed by that company, or if you just do not want to use facebook anymore. Not sure how you would be able to use that expensive VR device. Bad news tying that device to facebook.

I sold my Rift to upgrade before they made the announcement. I have never had a Facebook account and don't want one, so I deleted my Oculus account.
My HP G2 should be arriving soon.

I used the Rift CV1 and liked it a lot, good blacks, comfortable for long sessions and good sound. I’ve now switched to Quest 2, I am using it over link and it’s very nice, not as comfortable as the CV1 but much clearer. You’ll hear the term SDE with VR and this is almost gone with the Quest 2.
