Which VR system would work best with this setup?

I should also say, if any will work.

My rig

WIndows 7 pro SP1

AMD FX-9590 4.8GHz Eight core processor

32GB DDR3 ram

Dual Asus Geforce GTX 970s with 4GB 256-Bit GDDR5 running in SLI.

On an Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z MB

I use onboard sound and LAN

Any help is much appreciated.

Oculus Rift (the general consensus is Rift is the best for a sit down / cockpit experience . You are fine in all areas except the GTX 970(s). ED will only use one of them and it will be working hard all of the time. You will not get past medium settings and won't be able to use super sampling (to try and make up for the blurring that comes with VR).

VR is fantastic though and your biggest concern after buying VR will be how to justify all the money you will want to throw at making it better.

The only possible issue with Rift is USB3 issues. You need at least two USB3 for the sensors, preferably three so the headset can be on USB3 as well. It might work on USB2, but tracking might be worse. Looking at your board, you have enough ports, but only one USB3 controller, so you may be bandwidth limited. If that's the case, you might have to buy a PCIe USB3 card. I'd ask around on /r/oculus to see if anyone else has the same mobo or USB3 controller and how it works for them. In the worst case, PCIe cards aren't that expensive.

I don’t think SLI works for the Oculus and not for Elite either.
Oculus just upped their OS recommendation to Windows 10. I bought a pretty nice mobo last year for my AMD Ryzen build, my Rift still complains about the USB even after I broke down and bought an expansion card (it works though)

Much thanks to all!

I was completely unaware of the lack of support for SLI. Guess I'll be vid card shopping. At least the cryptocurrency bubble has started to deflate.

Enjoy your VR setups Folks. I'm sure I'll be back with questions once I have mine.[cool]
