Currently there are a few ships that are in a larger size than they should be (IMHO.) In some cases they are only the tiniest margin too big for the smaller docking bay, and so they sit in the cavernous space of a bay that is too large for them.
The Type 7 is the most obvious. Merely 2 meters taller tham the Federal gunship, and shorter and narrower than a python, this ship seems as though it was meant to fit in medium docking bays. It'd certainly help this underperforming ship have some purpose.
The Orca could conceivably fit on a medium landing pad, with about the same clearance at the fore and aft extremes as the Cutter has on the large pad.
The Type 6 and Keelback could both fit on the small pad, noting that they are a mere meter shorter in height than the Diamondbacks, narrower than Cobras, and again fit length-wise with as much relative clearance as a Cutter on the large docking bay.
Attached is a crude picture showing relative sizes:
I request that docking bay roof lines be raised on small bays by 1 meter, and on large bays by 2 meters, (possibly by adjusting floor suspension?) and that length restrictions on these bays be relaxed to the same degree as on the large bays, so that ships can use more of the bay surface area to determine fit dimensions.
