White dwarf

So i fly towars my first encounter with the "new" stars

And the second i exit hypertamtam at the star the ship is nearly uncontrolable, I get throw out of SC very fast after that! from here its quickly downhill...
BAM im out of SC! i think to myself no worries just gonna get the **** out of here :)

But no! there is no way i can get back in SC it seems :( unless RNG decides my ship should point in the right direction!? and that doesnt happen. 5 mins later im dead.
I couldnt do anything about it. I couldnt turn my ship anywhere.

what is the point ? it seems stupid.

That sounds like a bug.

I'm pretty sure I read in the patch notes that you should not exit hyperspace at the poles (ejection points) of White Dwarfs and Neutron stars.

Did you have throttle at 0 when exiting hyperspace? It should be survivable in that case.

I think FD said they took precautions for CMDRs not to exit hyperspace in the WDs/NSs jet streams so maybe that's a bug worthy of reporting?

Yet in the same patch notes was written that we will exit the witchspace in the position and direction we actually arrived from. Why would NS/WD poles were excluded from this?

The problem with white dwarfs and neutron stars now is that if you do get caught, and this can happen via a dc, you are pretty much dead. Yes its possible to escape but you most likely won't. You have absolutely no control of the ship when caught in the stream in normal space.

I did mention this during beta but nothing changed. We need, at least, to be able to have a fighting chance of getting out of danger. There are going to be a LOT of salty explorers if its not resolved.

You have a fighting chance not to leave SC.

Not if you get dc'd next to one. I'm all for increased danger but once caught by one its pretty much a death sentence. We should have a fighting chance to get out of it, as it stands we don't.

Imagine you are half way across the galaxy and this happens.. inb4 epic moan thread from explorers.

that's sad. I got a related question: is it possible to overcharge the FSD still? I tried it for 20 minutes now at Jacksons Lighthouse... no supercharged FSD

This scares me. I think I'll avoid White dwarfs and Neutrons for a while.
Wait and see. I've got 12k systems on board. Way too much to lose do to a possible bug.

You'll be fine if you take a couple of precautions. After all, one of the features of 2.2 is that the top right display will tell you that it is a NS/WD you are jumping to, so just throttle all the way back and prepare yourself.§
If by off chance you exit right into the jet, don't panic. Let the G-turbulence swing you around and slowly accelerate away from the cone.

The only thing you must avoid is to accelerate towards the star and be pulled out of SC. Then you're in trouble. But again, don't panic, wait for the cooldown, then start charging up the low wake. Once it is charged, wait for the ship to head outwards (you are constantly trashed around) and once you do, boost to momentarily align your vector with your heading. A moment is enough for the FSD to "catch". Then carefully SC out of the cone.

Best wait and experience in a sidey before doing it 'for real'. Not a good idea try to try them with loads of data on board...

I always know what I'm jumping into as I write everything down, And I'm very well versed with how to handle Neutrons and WD's. I've gotten knocked out of SC a couple of times with an accidental throttle bump.
I also Always 0 throttle on countdown.
Thanks Chris for the advise dealing with the cones. + rep to you for that.
I did jump into a Neutron this morning with no issues. The plumes are a nice looking addition.

My main worry stands however.
Did the OP die to a bug?
Is it possible to wind up in the cone on jump in?
Maybe he didn't throttle down?

Edit to add: Sleute I have 0 intentions of messing with the plumes for the super jumps. I couldn't care less about it.
At this point I have 7 months to go to get to my goal of 18 months and get home in 1 piece.
But your right about using a sidey to practice it.

It happened to me in one of the betas, and you can escape from it. Obviously you need to steer away ASAP or you'll crash into the WD itself and die. Dont know if its a bug or not, I assumed it was as intended. If you already tried flying through the jets and know how it works you'll be fine.

edit: ah, and if you just saw the new stars but didnt fly into the jets yet that could be a problem I guess. Best to remove them from your routes for now with the filter to route option...

I was trying to find ways to kill myself in Beta yesterday and this is one way.

I did escape but only by putting in several destinations until one worked. I got to a space station with 22 secs left of air.

My mental note from this was that you have to be very careful and move out from the star and then come in slowly to the streams to super charge the FSD.
