who else is selling/downgrading all their components to avoid the 10% penalty?

amazing how many people are so upset over a change that , even if implemented, would never have had any positive impact, only negative impact.
Put down the stick.
.
And mods, for the love of god, close this thread.

Also amazing how many people cried over losing some virtual money.

Just remember that "made-up money" translates into actual, real work Players invested.
Simply ask any fresh Clipper-, Python- or even Anaconda CMDR how hard it was to achieve enough "made-up money" in the Game to afford these Ships. They'll sure have their own story to tell 'how easy' that was.

IMO, if playing a game is "work", you're doing it wrong, but everyone's different I guess...

Implementing a model that reinforces the idea that used stuff usually depreciates in value doesn't sound like a negative impact on the authenticity of the game to me. The subtlety of the model used might not have been ideal, granted, but I presume it was a first step, since it was in the Beta. Games, and the rules that define our behaviour in them, obviously will evolve over time.

If those who write the game are beholden to a bunch of "workers" rather than "players", then I can agree - that's not likely to have a positive impact on the development of the game over the longer term.

These things are so very easily solved with having storage at stations. Most of this is backend in the form of databases. So it's someone saying ney to more database resources or the current database server/connection is too potato for having storage.

I presume that some form of storage fees would accrue. I'm surprised it doesn't happen already with the ships. I know instancing exists, but in the fiction of the game, these stations have limited space, and we're currently parking our giant ships in them for free.

Fees were already planned back in the DDf for ships and modules.
