Since Alpha I've been super careful with landing/take offs/flight assist off into asteroids and managed not to die (yet)

So, before the Thargoids turn up and show us how weak our shields are, lets see your votes!

nil deaths in open play, one dead sidewinder when I first set out in solo. nil insurance claims

I was blown up by a station in a t9 full of gold during the good old "stations attack because of point defence turrets" bug, luckily FD refunded my insurance claim, but I still have that black mark on my record :-( just as well our premiums don't go up (but they should!).

I've only died in combat once. Every other death has been from slamming head first into the wall instead of the mail slot. I swear, every time I upgrade to a larger ship, I tend to boost out like it's my old one, blatantly miss the slot due to the new inertia, and slam into the wall at full tilt.

Since launch(cleared my save) I got my Viper's thrusters blown off a couple of times by Elite Condas and I crashed my Python against a Coriolis starport while chatting..
So, I died 3 times IIRC.

Hmmm, i just cannot fly!

The first time I died, it was because of the running silent bug. I had tried to smuggle goods in so went into silent running mode and got above the pad and switched off silent running, landed and noticed that the temperature was still going up, nothing I did could reduce my temperature so exploded on the pad.
The only other time I died was when I was battling a type 7 or 9 because of a mission I was doing, I was winning until its accompanying sidewinder started to take my shields down so tried to boost away to the other side of the trader as I had done before, using it as a shield but instead of flying past, it turned the wrong way and I slammed straight into it.

Well, I've crashed my ship into a station wall a few times, but I don't count those as deaths, since if your ejection system can't work then, what the heck is the point of them? ;)

In combat I've only been shot down once in combat, though I've had my thrusters blown out by a pirate in another instance (but I repaired and moved on). And another time I let myself get shot down for the sake of a GalNet Youtube video I was putting together.

Since I'm using my own version of Ironman via the Pilot's Ejection Table ( https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=107694 ) I have my own rules as to when I will wipe my save (if ever) and start over (at least until a real ironman mode is introduced, if ever).

But yeah, I've rammed stations stupidly a few times, always because of a stupid boosting maneuver gone wrong, and almost exclusively in an Asp, because it flies like a brick.

ha, funny - just was caught with my pants down. I interdicted two npc ships (LP 355-65) and while finishing the second I noticed, that police was nearing. No problem, but suddenly my shield was taking hard hits and I noticed that a real player must have followed me into that instance. I tried too get away, but now I am here and have to admit my first insurance claim since official release.
Well done Commander! Perhaps we meet again ;-)

Its easy to avoid death if you are in fast well equipped ship and you are cautious.

Nowadays i have been fighting to the death a lot more if i choose to engage and things don't go my way. Much more exciting experience.

So, yeah, I've died a few times.
