Who Hasn't Played the Game Yet - And is Excited?!!!

I have the Mercenary edition pre-ordered, so won't be playing this until the 16th of December.
I'm cautiously looking forward to it.

I don't want to get all excited about it, as I suspect release day will probably have all sorts of issues actually downloading the game and login servers crashing under the strain, plus probably lots of lag in game due to server overload.
I DO expect this to be all sorted out within a few days of release though.

I might even not download the client for a few days after release to see if it ends up as a disaster, that way if it all comes apart I can get a refund if I haven't even downloaded it, but I still get the benefits of the Mercenary edition if any issues do actually get resolved.

Still, I'm looking forward to play ED. It looks a lot of fun based on the YT videos I've seen. :)

I haven't played the game yet, and it is absolutely ripping my heart out! I have almost, ALMOST considered spending >$1000 to build a Windows system to run it, but I just can't justify that right now ... I have to somehow wait for the Mac beta to begin.

Bootcamp?

I too picked up a pre-order today and am excited. I waited because I didn't really want to put too much time into a beta, but knew I would get the game anyway.

I had read that the pre-orders will get a download on/after Nov 22nd, just to play the single player training/tutorial missions. Not wanting to derail this thread, but is that official? Did I get that right? Thanks for any info..

Found it - it was in the Q&A thread. Looks like pre-orders just the single player combat test to fiddle with on Nov 22nd!

"Will Kickstarter backers without beta access be able to play on 22nd?

I backed the kickstater way back when - seems like a long time ago for some reason. I haven't played it yet for two reasons: I needed to build two PC's for me and my brother, which is difficult with the cash I have. Plus I'm not too keen on bug hunting and I don't feel the need to play a game as soon as its physically possible.

I kind of realised that it was only going to be around this time before things started to come together. I'm not going to play online during the gamma phase, but I'll probably play the tutorials, just to get some of the crashes and explosions out of the way. Then come the 16th Dec, me and the boys will take to the stars.

The rift temps me, but tbh i'm happy with track IR and i can still see to pick up my cup of tea :)

That's not an issue for me as I don't drink tea or coffee :p (and I'm a reasonably good touch typist).

That said, I'd be surprised if the consumer version didn't address the keyboard/cup of tea visibility issue in some way.

Same here, ordered the game on the 17th and now waiting for the 16th of December for the status to change to completed instead of processing and to start playing it !!! :D

And this is my first day on the forums as well :)

My copy of the game is so excited it keep peeing on the carpet :(

I'm not too worried about release as I am already having a blast! Each release just gives me more things to do.

I am a Prem-Beta, and played a bit during Prem and Normal Beta. I haven't had the chance to play much recently, and am looking forward to going in fresh when Gamma hits.

Cant wait to see all you excited Commanders in space!
Fly Safe.

Very excited for the 16th.
I was extremely tempted to upgrade to Beta but decided that I wouldn't really have proper time to play until Christmas anyway so saved a bit of cash.
I've been waiting almost 30 years for this moment, I can wait a little longer.

Played the original on the NES and Frontier on the PC all those years ago. Queued up 5 times at EGX to play this game, but apart from that nothing. Was tempted by the beta but thought I'd rather just wait a bit longer. Been watching loads of Youtube clips though. Can't wait for the 16th!!!

I'm wondering how many people are like me and still have not yet played the game at all? - And are therefore hyper-excited for December 16th??

I just cannot WAIT!!

At this point, I'm feeling like one of the lucky ones...because it will all be fresh and new to me when I first climb into the cockpit on that fateful day!

Oh boy oh boy - Christmas truly will be coming early! :) Yipppeeeeee!

<<<<< Still waiting for my Box to arrive and kb cardboard overlay and map/manual before I hit 'INSTALL' ;)

The wording on the front page of the web site has changed thus ..

"PRE-ORDER THE MERCENARY EDITION
RELEASED 16TH DECEMBER 2014
55 star systems covering 29,000 cubic lightyears
Initial online mission system functionality (to be further developed through Beta)
Player-to-player communication by text and voice
Friends management and matchmaking
Overview trade route mapping
The concept of fuel consumption
Docking computers to assist with safe landings
Additional Viper heavy fighter and Lakon Type 6 medium trader ships"

which was new to me and seems relevant to this thread. It seems to imply that the Mercenary Edition is a further beta? Or is this old?

Also I have only played for about ten minutes at the Eurogamer show in september with on Oculus Rift DK2 and it was amazing! Cant wait until we finally get to play something at home.

Yep just preordered today -- considered the beta a few months back but the ED chastity belt will remain fastened tight until the 16th!

Ordered my Merc edition a couple of weeks ago as an xmas pressie from the wife.... Unfortunately she's insisted that I have to wait until xmas to bloody play it!

That's just cruel....

Boot Camp works for me. Some stuttering near planets but apart from that it's pretty good.

I've been playing since Beta 1. I have gone through the game wipes, gone through a number of personal wipes just to test things and I STILL really enjoy the game.

I hope you'll love it as much as I still do :)
