who invented [JETTISION ALL CARGO]?

i lost 100 ton gold and recieved 15000cr fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i think i just want to delete the game now ..:mad::mad:
dont want to play it in some weeks
edit: why f***ing no cross-check or some kind of alert before it? i was inside the station, just want to deploy my landing gear (insert) and accidentally put (end), maybe you will say i should cancel the key binding, then why are you inventing it?

lol. Couldnt you pick it all back up. Rule 1 put jettison all cargo button miles away from anything else, same as the boost button.

Jettison all cargo has its uses, especially when you want to jettison all cargo

ive mapped mine to the End button, seems appropriate

If you don't like having that choice on your controller REMOVE the binding for it.

Select it in the control options, press ESC, gone.

Don't forget to apply the new configuration too.

They put the key binding there for those who want to use it. If you simply remove the key binding then to jettison all cargo you need to switch to the right hand UI, select cargo, click on the cargo you want to jettison, click jettison and select how much of it to dump and then confirm. Now you can't tell me that would be done by accident.

I did this back in beta after mistaking the eject all for the silent running button. I was just far enough away from the station to avoid the littering fine but not far enough away from the Eagles to scoop it all back up without getting caught. It was promptly unbound after that.

I wish I could say that was the stupidest thing I had ever done but it isn't even close :)

I know the feeling. Accidently dumped an entire cargo hold full of blueprints and had to scoop both of the containers up again.

In any game where there is a large selection of controls, and some of those controls are Throw Away All Your Things, and Blow Up Real Good, I tend to make sure I know what's where and rebind it if it isn't somewhere good. You really can't pin control input errors on a game that lets you do rebinds.

Yep I did that too, & then a copper turned up & fined me for having illegal cargo before I was done picking it back up!! I lost money on that haul!
.
I completely unbound it too (though if I need to re-assign it I'll set it a long way from the landing gear!

That's the std binding ;)

This is a valid complaint. The default key mapping is dangerously close to landing gear. The only reason I knew about it was because I read about it on the forums before playing the game. I don't think you should have to learn the hard way, or search forums for gotcha keys like this one.

Other keys are not mapped by default, (chaff, shield banks) so why is this one mapped by default? Why is it mapped by default next to landing gear?

I think it would be very beneficial to remove this action from the default keymapping, at least.

Must have been very early in beta; ever since I first tried, cargo jettisoned by yourself is not marked as stolen when you scoop it back up.

The first change I made was binding it to the "-" numpad key. Where I will never hit it by accident. Otherwise, as a keyboard+mouse pilot, I was bound to hit it sooner or later...

There is no button to drop just one "canister" is there? I think this would be very useful in those cases in which you might want to distract an interdicting player.

Chaff and shield banks are not mapped by default as they are not fitted as default I would imagine. Plus they are fired using weapon controls.

to answer the question, i think this guy might have something to do with it.. for his own reasons

Yep, it's a bit like boosting at full speed in to the interior of a Coriolis. It's a rite of passage.

I did the same thing and then decided I wasn't going to use 'jettison all' so removed it fro my key bindings.

I can sort of see the use for it. Sort of.
