Newcomer / Intro Who Is In Charge?

Who is in charge of the security arrangements at Sirius during this intergalactic conference thingy? Who ever it is needs shooting.

An ordinary, honest trucker/trader like me has no chance in getting into the top 25% let alone become one of the top ten individual suppliers, and the structure of the rewards is such that below that they ain't worth having ( a paint job for a Cobra MkIII and a permit for the Sirius system, who thought that would be worth while). No the reason for joining in is the chance for easy profits.

I have got a nice run set up from a medium field (so the T9s and 'Condas can't strip the place bare) that nets me 3mCR a time and takes less than ten minutes per return journey. That is 18m per hour comfortable trucking, but I need to keep moving; distractions like landing slots full hit my bottom line. And the biggest distraction and waste of time are the wretched pirates who try and interdict me in Sirius on every return trip. They never succeed but that is beside the point - they take up time and break the flow.

Now this is supposed to be a major international conference. You would think the local Old Bill would put in appearance to keep the place safe or failing that the organisers would have employed some private security contractors.

I am!

You can leave your gifts, tributes, and taxes in the basket.
I don't believe you! A gentleman of your calibre would never preside over such a huge muck-up as the organisation of this conference.

To be fair some of my problems lie outside the responsibility of the conference organisers. For example after evading the last interdiction attempt my ships system voice (Astra?) started saying, "Warning! Frame Shift Drive operating outside Safety Parameters", or words to that effect, every 15 seconds. I couldn't see anything wrong, and being in deep space there wasn't anything I could do other than plug on towards my destination but Goodness knows what that was about. Never had that warning before.

Then there is Cleo. Cleo is my voice activated assistant (courtesy of HCS Voice Packs) she and the Ships Cat got installed at the recommendation of Para Handy, gent of this parish. Cleo is an Essex girl (If any of our America friends are reading this you can google the term but think trailer trash and you wont go too far wrong), a lot of the time she does her job and makes me laugh, but sometimes she seems to zone out leaving me shouting at the computer while nothing happens. Para Handy did actually suggest I get a ship's parrot but that seemed slightly too close to an Essex Girl in terms of intellectual development. Florence, the Ships Cat on the other hand seems to have fewer downsides but is not a great conversationalist, her entire vocabulary is "Meow". She and Cleo get on like a house on fire and chat away for hours.

'Tis another unfixed bug which seems to be triggered whenever you're in (or have just been in) a system with a White Dwarf star.

Sadly all you can do is ignore it for now, unless of course you really are supercharging your FSD.

....
It is an old bug associated with systems with distant White Dwarf stars I think it is triggered by passing through what would be the jet of the White Dwarf if it extended that far*, I get it occasionally but never more than once per trip.
I think it is the warning you get when you try to scoop a boost from the Jet cone but am not sure as I haven’t used the jets as anything over than a very dizzying way to get to a rebuy screen.

* it won’t be that simple of course.

Well, that cat has similar vocabulary like my Orion... All he keeps talking about all the time (aside from confirming my orders of course) is how we humans destroy everything and that it is time for an adventure... He has literally only two topics... Destruction and adventure... Would he be more talkative if I get him a companion? I recently purchased Ad-astra, but that is not an AI, that is a talking bulletin board (which is exactly what I like about her)...
