Never needed them either, but I'm glad they're out there![]()
I went out exploring a bit in my Sidey. Only 750ly.
Somehow I ended up in a system I couldn't scoop from. I had enough fuel for a single jump, less than 3ly.
I left my ship in SC as I browsed the GalMap, trying to fix my filtering. Got it fixed, found a scoopable star and tried to jump.
Failed. No fuel. 15min in SC and two bars of fuel were used up.
I went back to the main menu and reset my save game in utter disgust.
I only had like 250k credits as it was basically a fresh save, so I didn't lose much.
I would love to know though how my population filter got adjusted (I certainly didn't) and how my filter which was ALWAYS set to scoopable-only systems somehow managed to route me to a T-class system.
Anyway, the game hates me when I try to explore. [haha]
When you plot a route by filter in elite, if you do AFTER you have already plotted your course initially then it will stick to the filter until it runs out of your stars selected but will then add a random nearest star to your filter preferences in route. Ie; you set only f types and your in a field of Y type stars. it will look for the nearest F type and plot a course through those Y type stars to it.
Well, I almost did.
Running out of fuel in a battle is harsh. Glad you got out of it.You had a solid 20+ minutes of SC and 35+ minutes of normal flight left there! You may even have been able to manage a useful jump.
I was once in a CZ when I realized I had about 90 seconds of fuel left and had to shut off everything except life support as I drifted from the battle and waited for assistance.
Don't believe him!You had a solid 20+ minutes of SC ...
