It could be the Missing who shot it down? Possible they have developed their own technologies due to them being away from mankind so long. What if we stumbled upon a bigger war between the Missing and the Aliens.

Oh there's probably some Salvage CG incoming.

Federation vs. Empire would be my bet.
It'll decide which SuperPower fleet will be incinerated first by an Alien Recovery Team before eventually those powerless "SuperPowers" will call for those "lone CMDRs in a SpaceShip" to help out where they failed :D

Then, a few weeks and ten thousands of Insurance claims later, some guy named "Edmund Mahon" will make a ludicrous proposition : How about we talk to these guys?
I could envision a person named "Jasmina Halsey" will be sent as his ambassador.

I am all for a peaceful first contact. The Aliens may be peaceful or hostile, but the wreck has one very nice aspect to it... we know, that those ships can be destroyed. Just in case.

However, i am in the strong believe, that we will be the more hostile species after all.

I'm not so sure it was shot down. There was no obvious weapon damage I could see. The cause of the ship's demise might have been relatively mundane, like a systems malfunction or something. Tons of human pilots (player and NPC) seem to die all the time from causes other than shootouts.

That ship sure looks quite a bit different that the UAs or probes so far. To the point of me thinking they are two different alien races. The UA creators might have shot this down and be our enemy as well. The shot down ones could very well become allies in need.

Perhaps the alien pilot was related to the one that supposedly crash in Roswell, New Mexico in 1947... These guys don't seem able to go anywhere without crashing into a planet... :rolleyes:

It doesn't look like anyone shot it down. At least not with anything that does heat damage. Its form isn't melty anywhere
If we'd shot it there would be recognizable damages. Maybe it chokes on chaff, but the way it looks hints of 'others' to me.
