Who shot down the Alien ship? Federation, Empire or...

If it was a human power/faction then they'd probably have hauled it off or at the very least be guarding it before collection. No this was done by something else. Not human.

Meh, they probably just landed how I did this morning.
Only slightly worse. :D

Never seen my Python bounce quite how it did. Escaped with 11% hull. :D

Last time I forget to check the local gravity!

There's heck of a lot of war ships out that way

I think it was "or".

It got mentioned a few times in FD streams that there might be something else out there. Something that caused to Thargoids to vanish. Something worse than thargoids.

Humans always think they are so important that everything that happens is because of them. The alien ship could have crashed because some other alien force destroyed it. It could have been some accident completely unrelated to humans or simple pilot error or maybe they don't have Fuel-Thargorodentoids or…

The most boring cause would be that humans caused the destruction.

Just going to put it out there... but what about....

INRA? I'm surprised no-ones mentioned Humanity's saviours yet.

But Alric makes a good point too: How do we know when this ship was shot down?

I think its safe to say, it was an psyco AI that wanted that tasty cargo, while firing those horrible multi fire PA's

See. This is where I get lost with the Elite lore. I'm fairly sure that the Thargoid's disappearance was caused by the brave guys and gals at INRA taking part in a bit of biological warfare, and their resurgence was caused by some naive fool who believed their 'we didn't start that war, honest' patter. It's funny the only recent bit of Thargoid lore we have that's fairly solid is that they've been dissecting civillian scientists at research stations on the Frontier.

There was a Galnet article some time ago about a Federal Battlecruiser going missing I think around the time of the Horizons update. And this thing is thought to have been in the game since 2.0. Hell, we could not go to planets before 2.0 so it could have been there even longer in the lore that FDev are creating. Yes yes, we know they can be killed... but by what? If we lost a Federal cap ship to this thing then we might just be screwed. We can not even kill cap ships, just force them to jump away.

And if you believe that these are the Thargoids then stop believing there will ever be peace. You should all remember nice and well they almost wiped up out last time and without a bio weapon that i'm more then sure will not work this time around we might just be screwed. You need to start prepping for war. If peace comes then that's cool, but if you prep for peace and then war come(and it more then likely will) then we lose everything.

And I am expecting one to be loitering over the *supposed* crash site shortly. I say *supposed* crash site, as I also suspect that after the warship is on station, the wreckage will be gone.

After my survey of the wreckage debris, I moved my ship out of the area before logging off. No sense in spawning under an angry capital ship when I next log in. :)

Maybe it just grew old and found a place to be its final resting place. Maybe it was the last of its kind.

:D S

Perhaps it didn't get shot down.
Perhaps it ran out of fuel and crashed after running from something.

Perhaps, it was scuttled and left there to draw attention. Allowing others to observe and study us and our technology?

Hell..it makes sense.
Leave a cheap toy out and watch the young race poke at it.

"Know thy enemy"

If you look at it, it doesn't look like it crashed into the planet ..... nothing buried in the ground (or the ice, maybe) .... just laying on the top, like it landed there and then expired of old age and fell apart after about 10 millenia.

Of course, it may simply be the limitations of the art work, or it was deliberately placed this way .... not like other wrecks in the game that are half buried.

I am sorry. It was an accident :(
I was just messing with this all plasma cannon build on my Vette and saw something strange in front of me. I panicked and fired all the Plasmas.
It turned out to be a ship and quickly moved away from me. I guess they must have crash landed on that planet while trying to land for repairs.
