Very nice. I highly regret not coming to Elite till a few months ago, I feel I've missed out on alot. I too have kept some old relics from my gaming history : The original box (more like a folder-thingy) from Sid Meier's Pirates! (1987), the original sleeve for The Bard's Tale III, and the original box (and map) from Might and Magic II.

Manual writing is kind of a lost art form with gaming. I still leaf through those old BT3 and Pirates manuals from time to time, and believe it or not they are still an enjoyable read. They are full of lore and stories, the BT3 manual and cover art had its cryptic clues for solving the game's puzzles, and Pirates had bunches of historical information and the always informative "Memoirs of Cap'n Sydney"which were often lessons in game strategy.

I still have Elite (the original version), boxed, with all the books and a *gasp* tape spool device thingy that you had to load into a tape thingy reader and wait for 15 minutes before you could play the game.
That's 15 minutes every. single. time. for you younguns...

you don't know you got it good.
;)

Sadly I was busy being born when the first elite came out but I played it on the atari when I was older lol for me ffe was a life changing experience that has never been surpast in my gaming history

Sadly I had to have a big old house clear out a few years ago and the PC game boxes ended up in the recycling, FFE included. :(

No idea what happened to my original FE2 for the Atari ST as I don't ever remember throwing that, nor would I.

This is the one Elite game I never played or owned. I check on fleabay now and then to see if I can pick up a copy to complete my Elite collection.

Yep still have my boxed edition lurking in the back of the cupboard. :D

Have the original BBC B cassette box set, with the book, the competition entry (1st to elite), function key overlay etc.
Also have FF and FFE all in mint condition :)

I have Elite (Amiga/PC), Elite 2 (Amiga), FFE (PC)

Would have loved the Amiga version of FFE maybe FDEV could release that and tbh would still draw a crowd now.

HOLY SMOKES
I looked in the box from the above post, found the sales slip. $54.00 shipped from toad computers 8-17-94.
and look at the sale price of elite 4. Life is funny sometimes
