Who Turned Out the Lights?

Is it just me?

All those pretty planet lights, where did they go? I've flown by 6 or 7 earth like planets on a rare run and none of them sparkled...

* They forgot to pay the bill
* They found out you were coming
* They read Greg Bears' "The Forge of God" and decided outside communications... (strangely including lights???) was a BAD idea.

But seriously.. I haven't noticed this. I'll have to jump on and take a look. If only I could get anywhere in this Eagle I have.

I seemed to notice I had to be very up close before they became visible. (Of course they have to be inhabited planets too)

It would have to be populated with a high energy use, industrial worlds or mass population.
Poorer agricultural worlds may have no visible lights on the night side from space unless you got up really close.
