Who wants a good laugh.

I have just paid out too much credits on my new ship. I thought what the hell fit it out with as much Cargo space as possible, get the best items to sell and fill my whole cargo bag with everything I had.
Thought to myself this will make me a good 100k in sales and started the process of leaving the space station. I got out fine and thought Great a good start to my next multi-million credit ship. Then my screen glitched and crashed down to desktop, with the game still running, and just as I grabbed they keyboard and hit Ctrl+Alt to change back my little finger tapped the END key by accident.

Then next second I was hit with a 12k fine and my Cargo dumped outside the space station. I managed to pick up 3 containers before they all disappeared, a little quick to be honest, and now I am back to square one with no cash except for the cargo I was lucky to collect.

Talk about big Gaffs lol lol

Changed the Cargo Dump key to something else just in case I catch the key again or press it by mistake when I go for the cargo scoop.

At least I can have a laugh at the waist of about 5 hurs worth of work making all the cash so I could fill this new ships cargo hold. lol lol

Ouch!... So sorry man... this is why I have "dump all cargo" unbound... I see no use for it other than leaving a door open to a grave error as happened to you... :(

My favourite 'oh well' moment so far involves a precious metals delivery job... and having it expire just while approaching the station, then getting scanned whilst entering the station, getting huge fines per tonne, only to find the station had no black market.

Muttering pagan oaths to mighty deities I spat myself out the station, bouncing off the letter box, and dumped the cargo... alas too damn close to the station, so picked up a whole new set of fines...

Toys flew from my pram like confetti in a cyclone... back into the station, paid my fines, and reviewed a couple of days hard trading wiped out in 5 minutes...

One bottle of wine later... meh...

I got a new viper and maxed it out (even put the union flag paint job on (oh yes i was feeling good that day commanders!)) and thought: right then here we go watch out galaxy here i come and other hubris filled thoughts.

i was pretty hot in my sidie so i decided to impress all in the dock by boosting out like a boss!

all went well right up until the moment i sneezed and ploughed right into the dock wall at full speed in a glorious explosion.

at least it might have given some of the others in the dock a good laugh though :D

It is funny when you make a gaff.

I think the best Gaff the game has done on me is this. I set my ship on Auto Docking, got up to go to the toilet. When I got back my ship was upside down and the docking computer was still trying to dock the ship upside down, lol, it was the funniest thing I have ever seen from this game, talk about gaffs. Lucky for me my shields were up otherwise I would of went pop.

Still we all learn from out mistakes.

A month or so ago I fell asleep WHILE DOCKING.... It seems I had made it to my landing pad inside a Coriolis station. When I woke up I was spinning head over heels over my assigned spot... I openend my eyes just in time to hear (and regrettably see) how the station security systems promptly vaporized my ship for loitering... It was funny, even considering I had a full cargo bay, because I thought to myself... "Yeah, A pilot could certainly be so tired from long SC cruises enough to fall asleep." ... Totally immersive, albeit regrettable, experience. :)

Both of yours look cool.

Thank you commander. :)

You want to hear about overwork? I've been docked for the past three days.
It seems I played so hard and for so many hours my joystick hand suffered from Tendinitis. Swollen tendons... Painful as #### too!
So I've been barely able to type, just today I'm regaining strength in my hand.. But won't be flying for a couple more, just in case.
I'm lucky my wife is a nurse.. But then I have to put up with the "I told you so"s... :)

So a warning to all of you commanders out there... Do not do as I have. Do not play for 18 hours straight without rest.

My avatar? hehe.. glad you like it.

"How I Attacked an Orbis and Survived"
(Or "How I wasted an entire evening's earnings in 2 seconds of carelessness")

After a hard evening's enforcement of anti-narcotic blockades in my Asp, I returned with my haul of combat bonds. Not the fastest way to earn money, but good for a giggle when most of the farmers are "Harmless" NPCs in overpowered ships! (Though I did feel a bit sorry for the entry-level CMDR Eagles that kept trying to attack me when I was busy with Pythons...)

Since beta 1 my docking process has used primary and secondary weapon controls as forward and backward thrust when gears are down.
I could have sworn my gears were down before I entered the station, but evidently not as the warning appeared.

"Not a problem, I'll just drop the gears now and move into position over the pad", thinks the overconfident CMDR Sma... Unfortunately he didn't wait until the gears were locked down before squeezing the forward thrust button - so instead blasted the control tower with twin C2 beams...

Oops!

Flinging it into the deck while spamming shield cells under apocalyptic fire from the station I somehow managed to get it docked, despite missing the pad at the first attempt and skating around with thrusters to find it. Thankfully the fire stopped once I was down. 9% hull remaining.

9%

Cost me 200KCr to repair (half the rebuy cost) plus the bounty for the actual offence (which I can't really complain about :0))

All in all, not a great end to the evening's play - STILL haven't decided whether I'm annoyed about the huge repair bill or relieved I escaped alive!

There really should be an "argh! I'm sorry! I didn't mean it!" button!
(Also, landing mode should be engaged when you click the button, rather than waiting until the gears are actually locked down)

Haha

I rebound mine long ago after my experience with accidentally hitting boost inside a port. Both keys are in places where I will not accidentally bump them.

I rebound that key the first time I realised I'd dumped all my cargo at the last station I was at, just trying to raise the landing gear!

You must have been the guy upside down trying to dock in my bay, i spent a good few minutes watching you. You were still there when I left.

yeah sorry to hear that Sargon i had a touch of of myself the other day so had to hold off a bit too my ex is a nurse specialising in sports injuries and she recommends using an ice pack for a few minutes (not long enough to become uncomfortable) then a wash cloth (flannel) with hot water (as hot as you can comfortably stand) and hold that on till it cools down then repeat five or six times a session and do this about 3 times a day.

it does work for me so i would recommend you give it a try to get back in the game faster :D

my current wife recommends i listen to my ex wife so no arguments from me! (ever feel ganged up on?) glad they get on though.
