Who wins those prize scams anyway?

I entered this silly contest. Name, address, etc. on a piece of paper of all things. Who uses paper anymore anyway?

"Grand Prize: Win a Cobra Mk. III, fully kitted out for exploration! One hundred (100) Second Prizes: 100cr card to be used at your local electronics store."

I was aiming for the card. I wanted to upgrade my sad little stereo. So I wasn't prepared when a year later, a knock on my door from a man in black led me out of my little one room apartment and into a much larger existence.

I took a trip on an Orca-class starship to a system I'd never heard of. Shinrarta Dezhra. Aside from the pilots, it was only me and the man in black who called himself Johnny Cash. He gave me lessons on flight mechanics, navigation, and the laws of the galaxy. By the time we'd reached our destination, I was pretty sure I could safely transition from the holo-sim into an actual ship.

There was no fanfare, no photographers. I was led to a quiet dock where a maintenance crew programmed the ship to my commands and quickly left. Mr. Cash shook my hand and bid farewell. I was left to my own devices.

And the first thing I wanted to do after being cramped up on Khepri AB 2 with a population of over 23 billion is to get away even further. On my first full day out, by luck or design - because by this time, I'm wondering if someone's not having a bit of a laugh at my expense - I come across this abandoned wreck...

Never risked it with those scams, got my ship through luck, beer and knowing when to cut my losses.
Nice find with the artefacts
