Who would be willing to PAY for ships?

While I don't expect to buy a game once (well, twice, ED+Hor) and get updates in perpetuity for it, neither do I expect to be drip-fed content subject to my finances.

I don't mind buying expansions, but I won't pay per ship.

There is something called "Harakiri" or "Seppuku". Imagine the name "Elite Dangerous" tied to that if one day they decide to make us pay (in a paid game) for the main point of entertainment as well.

So no, just in case it was not clear before.

The Answer is No...

Frontier Development has created a case that forces you to work your way up, get involved with the community, cross-platform's community goals, and all the great nature of actual gaming that all the other games "sold out" on. In-game purchases ruin a game in the long run. Persay, you bought all the ships, outfitting, etc. that you wanted... then you had all the fun you wanted for a year or so you would eventually get bored of the game and go play something else because then Elite wouldn't have anything else of interest to you. I wouldn't suggest FDev to offer in-game purchases other than cosmetics if they want to keep their strong Community Fan Base. Look at other games such as: GTAV - You practically have to use real money to enjoy their game, BF1- You have to buy the newest DLC to get the' batter's guns, and so forth & so on. If FDev adds purchases to the game then they're going to have to keep the Community alive by constantly shutting out new content and then that's going to take away their focus from all the Galnet and Community Goal stuff and then it's all downhill from then on. They're TONS of ways to earn credits in the game & even a few exploits that FDev could've fixed, but left them open. Find you a good system that is in civil war and do one jump passenger missions for awhile, if you get bored of that go back to regular missions, if you get bored of that turn in some bounties, if you get bored altogether then you're nit truly an Elite Fan. Frontier has a good thing going and like they say" if it ain't broke don't try and fix it" comes to mind. Stay strong, Frontier. We know our patience will be rewarded..
