Seeing so many issues raised with matchmaking and waiting for games. What bugs me while playing and also when deciding whether to report an issue is that I don't know how many people are playing and what types of games they are playing.

If I could see:

XXXX Players Online
- X Games waiting for Players

XXXX Players in Deathmatch
- X Games waiting for Players

XXXX Players in Team Deatchmatch
- X Games waiting for Players

XXXX Players in Capture the Flag
- X Games waiting for Players

Or something along these lines then I'd benefit from knowing:

1 - Where to go to get a game
2 - Whether there are too few players for matchmaking to work
3 - Whether I'm alone in the universe or not tonight

Without some kind of information like this I blind and could easily blame the game when I'm just on at a bad time or choosing the wrong mode to get a game.

Who wants some stats?

'who who'? How how did I manage that?

I was thinking the same exact thing. I would like to see how many players are in matches and how many are waiting.

Being able to see how many players were active in each mode of CQC would not tell the player how many of those players they would be able to play the game with - the matchmaking system may rule out players where ping times are too high, etc..

I definitely agree with this statement. I don't think that type of statistic could be presented, but something rather than nothing has to be better, shirley?

Is there anybody out there? Is it worth waiting?

As we aren't a server hosted system we can't really expect to see a list of games and choose to join them (can we?) but knowing we should have a chance to find something would be nice.

I suppose a downside is that it would be very easy for people to see if CQC wasn't very popular. :(

Does it really take into account ping times? Because I had an awful game last night where someone clearly had a terrible ping and it made the whole match unplayable. Maybe I had some bad luck.

As for displaying the numbers of people, FD might consider that sensitive information, as it could be used to judge how successful CQC is. And estimated wait times are mostly a waste of time from my experience. But I agree that some indication that something is happening would be good, to know if it's worth sticking around or doing something else.

Consistency of the ping is critical but how do you know unless you spend time measuring it before deciding? As this is peer to peer they may suddenly have their kids decide to watch 7 movies at once and kill their bandwidth!

"Searching for Match : # matches in pool in progress, # Commanders in lobby.

Would help me alot, I don't know if it's networking related or if there simply isn't enough people in during my time (10:00 server time) to find a game :( Last two nights I've been having a real hard time finding games. I just need to sit and wait for 10 minutes and hope for the best :(
