Congrats!!

When I went exploring I found them in clusters so I'd wager there are several more within 100 LY of that.

But I don't quite understand why it took you 17,960 LY. That seems way too much for your first ELW. Didn't you scan anything untill recently?

I have been glancing at the system map as I have been passing through systems and checking out likely candidates, but I am still on my way to my selected destination before starting to explore in earnest.

It has only taken me about 3 weeks to get this far... about 500LY to go until I arrive at the randomly selected shiny thing a long way from home and start scanning properly. :)

There is no wrong way to explore :)
I , however , explore there and back.

Sure that's fine. I do more or less the same.

It's just that according to my personal statistics I get one ELW every 150 systems I visit.
And almost 18000 LY is quite some more jumps than 150. But maybe I'm just lucky ;-)

I found my first one a couple weeks ago and it wasn't more than 1k ly. But then, I don't set a distant destination and basically ignore everything in between. So..

Yeah, I found one a lot closer, well when I say earth like, it was spherical which is similar to earth unlike all those asteroid fields :)
