Why 1.1 is awesome for me

* City lights
* Clouds have depth and shadow (fun fact: most of cities on Earth are placed around equator, as city lights shows)
* Earth itself just looks way more detailed
* Supercruise exit now is on par with entry - no sound/music cutoff and flickering, thus giving seamless transition. Station also zooms in from further distance, not suddenly appears and then zooms in;
* My text comms work (and I will guess for lot of people). It doesn't mean all instances are solved yet, report your issues with comms and *attach netlog with debbuging info* (see knowledge base at support.elitedangerous.com how to enable proper flags for giving full info to devs); Thanks to Tinman and others who also reported bugs on Monday. Hint of adding netlog helped a lot.
* Haven't tried combat in 1.1, but in beta it was way more fun than before, accidental fire system really helps here;
* My this evening favorite is when jumping in near star, it washes out all other stars and lights...and only moving away from it slowly gives back rest of skybox. Just awesome detail which I think is a bug at first;

Sans scrapping accident, and still bunch of unresolved issues, worthy upgrade. Thanks FD!

Have to admit the clouds do look superb now to the point Im slowing down just to watch them.. The supersamplings really helped with the whole look as well - the silly shimmering lines in stations nearly all gone.

Haven't seen a station (or indeed a populated planet) in a while. I really like the 1000 LY route planner though. And planets are pretty up close. I like the light on clouds on the dark side of the terminator - more than once did I think I saw city lights on planets way outside our little populated bubble.

:D S

I agree, +1 :)

The 1.1.02 patch is a nice step forwards for the game. Granted a small step, as it mainly focused on window-dressing and bugfixes. I do love the new route-planner though. No more waiting for ages as it tried to plot a 70+ LY route.

Still a few bugs that need ironing out, I hear the explorers amongst us is a bit miffed right now. So I am sure we'll see another hotfix or two before the weekend comes along.

All in all it's nice seeing the game move forward. And like most others, I'm looking forward to future major patches. Now, where is my Corvette?!

:D

I'm not miffed at all, I'm exploring and liking the clouds and route planner. The sounds have improved too, though I keep thinking there is something going wrong with my fsd because its making some weird sounds.

this was working like this before 1.1? was there a bug for some then?
I did some exploration before 1.1 landed and this effect was apparent back then especially where nebulae are etc.

Oh exploring works fine, excellent now with the 1000LY route planning. However, don't try and cash in your discoveries quite yet if you got plenty of them. The game then reportedly crashes to desktop and bad stuff happens. So save up your discoveries, and wait until you see a fix have been released making it safe to deliver pages upon pages of discoveries.

I'm exploring in deep space atm and the route planner + new stars filters in the galaxy map are definitely improving my experience. Thanks FD.

Yes, this feature has been in since launch, though I have seen some posts with people thinking it was a bug. I've always noticed it and admired the attention to detail FD has used in this regard.

I just set off on my first expedition out of civilization, so that new route planner has me pretty jazzed.

I like the way exiting system view doesn't go to the galaxy view any more! Yes!!!

I posted this elsewhere but haven't seen a response yet:-

Wasn't the tweak supposed to exit the sys map back to where you accessed it from?

If I enter the sys map from Target Panel, that's where I'd like it to return to, but mine just goes to cockpit/flight view.

Have I remembered it wrong?

Fully agree, OP! Judging by the improvements brought in by 1.1, I cannot wait to see what 1.2 will add! It probably will make ED the best game ever created :D
