Engineers Why 2.1 "The Engineers" have screwed Elite: Dangerous

I hear what your saying , but how can you have the game PVP like and want and still allow others to fly , who cant PVP or don't want too

Given I would much rather have everyone in OPEN , than the 15k+ in Private groups

I reiterate , the bottom line here is the lack of consequences ... which now has affected PVP players , as Frontiers non solution is the "unbalancing" with Engineers

You make the crime system properly balanced where random murdering has very little incentive and things like meaningful PvP in BGS/PP/Minor Factions actually have decent incentives. But that's basically impossible at this point because even with a better crime system it's better to skip it all together and solo farm undermine.

I am with you OP, I took a break from the game and then came back to get blown into pieces in just a few seconds. I considered myself a decent pilot that could withstand any attack and always had a chance to fend off multiple attackers, not so much against modded ships. I rather fight a vanilla Corvette with a Viper than fight a modded FDL. I say PvP is dead for now

So I looked into this Engineers thing the last couple of days. It's bonkers. Not bothering with it until they fix it.All that grinding and RNG?Nope.
Off to exploring, time to get to Elite.

"WE" is a rather presumption statement.

Yep, on the very first day of release, when AI NPC ships were, for me, unplayable I did some griping but once FDev released the patch to nerf those NPCs the game was brilliant, IMHO.

I have several fully RNGineered ships, they are maxed out beasts for the roles I use them in and I had fun, and I learned to utilise more playing styles i.e. mining for example. Once I understood how to rep-up quickly with a given Engineer, it did not take me too long to max-up all my mods.

I also fly un-engineered ships, again for roles that suit those builds all without the problems you state, as well as many other players.

I would suggest YOU start to work out ways to rep-up quickly with the Engineers and start enjoying the game again, if you ever did or maybe you can pop along to Toys R Us and buy a board game for your entertainment.

Good luck and have FUN.

I have access to almost every Engineer with G5 blueprints (skipping fuel scoop and refinery engineers ...).

I have a fully modded META FDL and alot of modded plasmas, pulses, beams, obviously multicannons, frags and missiles and some railguns. However, I only use what is currently in the meta as every other weapon is simply not viable.

Against NPCs nearly everything is viable due to them not being fully modded and 2.0 being an actual balanced game.

Currently I am modding G5 PAs just to try them out but TBH I am 90% sure they are still not useful.

Im with you, but dont hold your breath. ED is the way it is because thats the way FD wants it. A sensible solution imo is just to spend ones game time playing something else until FD gets the message.

I now have 4 engineers unlocked, 2 to level 5 and 2 to level 3. There are a couple of others i might engage with at some point. My fleet is modded to a reasonable degree now and there is nothing i am desperate for and cant do without.

Hasnt felt in the leadt bit grindy and actually quite good fun to fit in with other things. If there is rare stuff i will go for it. If not, i will wait

You don't do PVP and you play mostly in solo mode I guess.

fair point... I dont do combat or open. so engineers is fine for me and my style of play. it seems only the pvp players who seem to be engaged in some kind of arms race. i dont see that it can ever be resolved unless there is some kind of de-escalation like in the end to the cold war. and i assume it is only a minority of players who actually do pvp so i would think vanishingly insignificant to most of us. thats not being negative btw, just trying to understand what all the faff is about
