Yeah, seriously; it's still happening. Are there any bug fixes occurring?
Why am I still crashing when opening the galaxy map?!

There was one, yesterday, but I don't think it had anything to do with the map. Have you tried lowering the map quality in the settings? Or switching modes?
Make sure you're not facing the star or a planet when you open the map.
