Why are my frames so low? On all low settings and a 2060 with a i7

I have a RTX 2060 with a i-7 10th gen and 16gb of ram (2900 mz) and I only get about 30 fps in game. FDEV, I know your busy but why are you working on the small details when so many people wont be able to play due to poor graphics optimizations?

1920x1080p, I had everything on med settings then I turned everything down to low but that didn't help much.
I don't have any gpu/cpu intensive thing running in the background. I cleared my cashe, optimized some windows settings, nothing helps much.

Sorry mate but you really have answered your own question , the optimization is crap.
Yeah, FDEV is apparently using like 6x the amount of rendering that is really needed in the game which making the game feel like crap. They really need to work on fps optimizations for the next update. Sometimes I wonder how is it even possible to play on console right now? Poor guys...

I'm pretty sure they just don't. Odyssey hasn't reached them, yet. And when it does, they'll have to optimize the crap out of it, which is when we maybe get to see some of the benefits of that on PC, too...

Dude, that's the 64M$ question right now. Which is probably how much Frontier will pay you if you can figure it out. And I doubt it's Object Culling, every 2nd year CS student knows what that is. If it were that easy it'd be fixed by now.

there have been reports of performance gains if you use DXVK and the Vulkan runtime here

I downloaded the shader ini and it increased my concourse performance by roughly 60%. It's bizarre FD doesn't put this in the gfx options.

What shader ini are you referring to?

As far as I'm aware DXVK still doesn't work with Odyssey in Windows. It works in Linux, but since that's the only way to run it in Linux, there is nothing to compare it to.

for peace of mind you have made sure your not upscaling your textures ... i know it sounds silly but for some reason mine defaulted to 2.0 which needless to say caused some issues
super sampling that is.

i am using AMD RX 590 , everything is ok UNTIL the last UPDATE !!!!!!!!! when using SUV on planet surface or walking in settlement , FPS often dropped to below 20 for a few seconds , but when I get up to my ship again , even it is still on the ground surface , FPS will raise back to over 50 !!!!!! , I think the problem comes with the LAST UPDATE , because FSP DROP was happened after I downloaded the UPDATE from STEAM :mad:

The longer you play the worse the game client performance gets. I let it run for like 9 hours the other day and it was getting a whopping 1 FPS and the HUD wouldn't load, etc.

It starts getting pretty bad around 5-6 hours though. Starts with stuttering and goes from there.

Oh, and I'm on:
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-10900KF CPU @ 3.70GHz, 3696 Mhz, 10 Core(s), 20 Logical Processor(s)
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 128 GB
NVIDIA Geforce RTX 3090

Just in case the "it's your system" thing came up.

Hi M1glad
See my PC specs below...very similar to yours and I'm getting EXACTLY the same Odyssey results/performance as you.... there is NOTHING you can do to your hardware beyond what you have already doen... see my post about extreme action I WAS going to take until our fellow forumites gave their helpful advice:

Best wishes Commander o7
