Why are secondary weapons displayed left and primary right ?

I'd suggest that anyone who has an issue with this simply assign their primary weapons to "2" and secondary to "1" in their fire group. That way the HUD will line up to match the buttons.

*EDIT* sorry, the fix also needs you to swap the fire buttons. But it can be made to work so that Mouse 1 fires the weapons displaying on the left

But I do agree with the sentiment. There's no actual reason for the HUD to favour one side over the other, and since the default "primary" button is Mouse 1 it does make sense for the HUD to place those weapons on the left.

Something I just thought of. Most people are right handed, and most hardware therefore accommodates right-handed joysticks. Maybe that is why the primary weapons are displayed on the right. I do agree though, and option to invert it would make sense for left-handers (actually I am one but just got used to using right-handed joysticks I guess).

Joysticks and gamepads I guess? My leftie does the pitch 'n' roll, my rightie the primary/secondary (trigger/shoulder.)

Since PB i am asking myself: Why did Frontier placed the hud display for the secondary weapons left and the primary right ?
Primary weapons are on the left mousebutton so i expect the hud element for primary on the left side and the secondary (right button) to the right.

Would be nice to swap that.

And : Give us a landing queue, pls - because request docking a thousand times, kills my keyboard and my nerves. If i aproach an outpost with more then 5 ships, i switch to solo for docking and back to open play after it.

Because it makes more sense from a HOTAS/controller perspective, as your primary weapons are always on your right hands.

Am I missing something here... Left, right, whatever I know where my weapons are and what they do. I look at the whole screen and not just the sides of it. Is this a keyboard thing? Never thought of it.

Yes, i got this point but : For mouse controls the primary button is left by default. To change it manually to the right one would interfer with the menus (i had to use right button to select).
Every PC game has it`s primary fire button assigned to the left mousebutton.

My suggestion would be to implement a toggle for weapon displays inside the hud, so left trigger/bumper/button users had no crossover display logic and joystick or controller users keep their hud.

As i said before, i can live with that but it would be nice for an update in future one day.

Fly more than just one ship.
