Why are the Powerplay Military Strikes so unrewarding?

Forgive me but I don't read or post often to see if this has been addressed at all.

But what the heck?

Why are the vouchers for military strikes so terrible? 100 credits a ship? Are you kidding me? I have to (help) destroy something like 100!! ships just to get the first rank. That is easily an hour or two or more hanging around the strike. All that for 50k.. a week?

I don't get it. Why would I do that? It looks like I could ditch my combat ship, slot cargo everywhere, and haul that same amount in propaganda crap in a fifth of the time. Two hours of resource guarding, blowing up pirates, could net me millions. Millions!

Why aren't the tougher ships worth more? Shouldn't 1 voucher be what you get for a sidewinder, but an Anaconda give you dozens?

I tried the "crime sweep" merit earning path yesterday for the first time. I too was surprised to discover that it's only one merit per ship whether it's a mostly harmless or a dangerous NPC, let alone an eagle or an anaconda.

plus no bounty :(

It's certainly a bad situation, and you can see its effect on Powerplay quite clearly. Powers with a Combat (or Social, it works the same way) Expansion ethos see lower Expansion activity every week. Take Hudson - his activity is almost three times higher than Torval, but Torval still does 50% more Expansion, since she has the Finance expansion ethos. Being saddled with combat expansion is the single biggest disadvantage any Power can have, and it's starting to kill off Archon and Antal alike.

Go to any enemy controlled system ( look for a government of independence ) but controlled by an enemy faction.
Scan for enemy courier ships, intradiction and kill = 15 points.

In your powerplay menu, click on the other factions faces, if you are an empire, you will want a fed enemy faction.
for example if you are aligned with L Duval, then select Old Lady Winters ( she's orange ) then click Winters control button, look down her planet list for closest and then click show planet( map will load ) ... Check if it's independent , if it is then that's your spawn camp.

With her system being independent , you won't lose reputation with Federation but you can kill her ships.
You will get bounty on your head but who cares, just use that system to get your merits every week.

Good luck.
