Why aren't I earning a bounty for kills?

So I fly to the Federal Distress Signal, join the Eradani faction and start hunting federal ships. I fly for an hour, get 40 kills and each time I see the info message that I received a 350 CR bounty. I get back to base and I haven't earned a cent...what the heck am I doing wrong?

I'm playing online solo.

Check the "Contact" and then the claim bounty. If you didnt die you have all 40 Bountys "Stored" in your ship computer you will get it paid when you claim it in a station.

To see all your claimable bountys got to the left panel under missions.
