Why aren't stations killing me?

I've had 200-400cr bounty's many many times but, have never been killed by a station for them. I'm not complaining but, my landing habits have me being scanned right at the cattle chute as I enter the station. I've cringed and held my breath many many times but, thankfully have never been shot at by the stations.

i assume it's because the station doesn't have time to complete the scan?

The scan is done by the cops, and it needs line of sight, which you break when you enter the station fast enough. Good for smuggling too.
