Why barbary macaques are awesome

I really like them. Their really cool. I'm gonna explain why because i really want more people to consider them.

1. Their the only monkey in Europe being found in Gibraltar (the southern part of Spain).
2. Their the only macaque species in Africa.
3. Their the only monkey species that lives in the Sahara aside from baboons.
4. They are very distinct from out existing Japanese macaque. To start off they live in the complete opposite biome. They also have a a much more brown coat and face unlike the Japanese's white coat and red face. Unlike the Japanese they don't have a tail only sporting a little stub with lots of spiked up fur around it.
5. Though were probably won't get one due to us having the raccoon now they would still be perfect for and urban pack. There's so many videos online of them being a nuisance in city streets.
6. They have 152 EAZA holdings. I'm not sure how many AZA holdings their are but I'm pretty sure they're also pretty common there. Overall they are a really common zoo animal though.

I would like a bigger variety of monkeys beyond macaques
However I really want the Barbary macaques. I have seen pictures of them living in Gibraltar and their interactions with people. Gives europe an unofficial rep for primates and a desert rep.

I don't really care for macaques too much (there is other primates I want) but I'd be fine with the Barbary because of how common it is in zoos, I'd probably end up using it a lot.

The good thing of Barbary macaques is that they are very resistant to temperature variations. My local zoo in Finland has them and they are the only primate they have with their own enclosure instead of being displayed in the tropical house.

I believe the last the AZA holder was Toronto Zoo and the animal in question has passed on a couple years ago. Bringing them back is out of question due the the federal import restrictions to avoid herpes viruses.

PRIMATES ANIMAL PACK NOW!
We have a lot of interesting monkeys and apes to add in PZ, like baboons, gibbons, macaques, new world monkeys, africans monkeys and tamarins
Eww... people were complaining about the Twilight pack being mostly carnivorans... a whole animal pack dedicated to monkeys would be worse.

I think I'd prefer the lion Tailed Macaque mainly because we already have 3 primates from south east asia. Not that south East Asian primates aren't great but we somehow have none from mainland Asia so a mainland Asian monkey would be nice first.
I agree, although it's more because modders can create any tailless macaques we need with the Japanese Macaque... a tailed macaque? Without a proper rig, that's not an option.

I don't understand the complaint about twilight being mostly carnivorans. I understand complaint about in general bit this one dosent make sense.

Carnivorans are the most diverse group of mammals and I don't think people would mind a pack with coati, ocelot, Spectacled bear and fossa. Even though all of them are carnivorans. If anything it's mainly that they put 2 muateloids in. If they replaced the Skunk with a tassie devil or night monkey then I think the complaints would've been much less.

nope… the difference is that we already had lots and lots and lots of carnivores - they weren’t a group that was lacking in representation. Monkeys (not primates as a whole) are, in comparison, very, very, very underrepresented, especially in comparison to their presence in zoos.

The main complaint about the Twilight pack wasn't that it was mostly carnivlrans, but rather that a "nocturnal" pack had much better candidates than carnivornas in general, and these carnivorans specifically.

Let's be honest, the galagos, aye-aye, giant cloud-rats, cuscus, night monkeys and any other animal which is exclusive to nocturnal houses in zoos will never get a second chance for being in the game.

I understand not making an entire pack of these nocturnal oddbalks, but snuffing literally all of them for a forest/roadkill pack was a real shame.

As you said if even one of them was switched for something more unique people would likely be much happier with the pack. Heck even having the kinkajou instead of a skunk would've likely made people much happier.

Didn't they say the Twilight Pack was about crepuscular animals, not nocturnal ones? Ergo, the Twilight Pack shouldn't be considered a nocturnal themed pack.

Even so, we really, REALLY don't need packs dedicated to one particular group...

We REALLY do in the cases of monkeys and birds - we just won’t ever actually get them.

I wouldn't like a pack dedicated to a single group, except maybe aviaries, but some groups could use a pack heavy on them.

Like a rainforest animal pack with 4 primates wouldn't be a bad idea.

Or a Highlands animal pack with 3 caprines.

My main issue with packs that have multiple very similar animals is, that on a gameplay level that doesnt offer much. If we look at the twillight pack for example (which for the record i am okay with) the main issue is that the habitats you actually build for them are quite samey. I made one temperate forest themed habitat for racoons and besides one single climbing structure it also could have easily been for the red fox or the skunk, so much in fact that on a whimp i added 2 skunks to the habitat because the skunk tail looked very good on the custom sign.
Primates, Reptiles and Birds only work because of how varried they are (duh two of them are completle classes of animals and 2 out of 5 of the vertebrates orders) and having very different requirements and habitats. A baboon, a tamarin, a squirrel monkey and a howler monkey habitat would all look quite different, eventhough they all are "just" different flavors of monkey
