Ships Why can't this dock on medium pads?

The type 7 is 81.6 M long, 56.1 M wide, and 25.4 M tall. The Python is 87.8 M long, 58.1 M wide, and 18 M tall. Are you telling me the reason a T7 can't use a medium pad is due to it's height? It seems a little ridiculous considering the Type 9 is so much larger and I get why it needs the large space, but when the T7 is on a large pad it's so small, so much wasted space around it.

It's not the pad, it's the hangar. It would probably get wedged stuck when they would try to roll it into outfitting for medium vessels.

Well I understand that, but that made 3 Lakon freighters and for some reason they don't go S M L, it's M L L. Let's not forget the Python which can dock medium can be configured with same amount of cargo space as T7. It's really the only ship to do large cargo runs to an outpost.

Sorry but it's just too ugly for outposts! ;)

Seriously though the medium pad ability is one of the reasons the Python is worth 50 mil

classic ED balancing, multipurpose ships are better than the specialist ones.

unfortunately you'll have to join the masses and buy a python :(

I have a python, as well as Anaconda, Viper 3 and 4, Cobra 3 and 4, and Asp Explorer in storage. I'll probably buy (and sell) a Type 9 just to screw around with for a week. At one point or another I've own most ships in the game. Haven't unlocked some of the higher level ones like Imperial Cutter and Federal Corvette just yet.
