why can't we set 1-2-3 pips on pips management?

I spent a long time one day trying to figure out the magical keypress combo that would net this result, but I never was very good at Rubik's cubes.. And unlike those, I can't peel off the stickers and put them where I want..

It really would be nice if we could pre-set our pips. I never understood FD's aversion to this, I mean, it's not an unfair advantage when everyone can do it, and it allows much more precise use of pips moment to moment in game, rather than tapping two pip adjusted alternately to get them to the desired level.

Kind of like how someone insists scanners *must* be set to fire groups, despite them not actually firing anything, or even being mounted on hard points to begin with...

I always wondered why scanners aren't fitted into ship sensors. The basic sensor can detect the status of the selected ship, surely an upgrade should warrant scan etc. Oh well...

Don't get me started, someone, somewhere, just wants to ensure we are always pressing lots of buttons... Perhaps FD have shares in Cherry?

yea but I'm not talking about pips pre set...

I'm asking about literal 1-2-3 pips on the pips system, we can't do it, what we can do is 1-2.5-2.5 pips, or 0.5-2-3.5 pips or several other combinations involving .5 pip.

that is super weird.

so why can't we have 1-2-3?

I do all my power management from a G13 pad, where I've programmed the keys to set the pips the way I want. It's a beautiful thing.

Hmmm, we can do 1-3-2 or 3-2-1, but not 1-2-3

So tell the OP how to set your pips to 1-3-2 (Sys Eng Wep) what combination of keystrokes in your macro?

because this is the attemp of a realistical futuristic game, why would they make controls of a ship simple and easy at all in the future?

doubt that my first cherry is still working and thats a 20 year old one, and that one has loads of button smashing pressing and clicking beyond imagination.

no we can't do 1-3-2 or 3-2-1 either.

only 3.5-2-0.5 or 0.5-3.5-2.

any combination with 1-2-3 is not possible.

Yes we can, I have it programmed.

You can. First set up a 2-0-4 situation (easy) where you wand a 1-2-3 end state. Then add 2 pips to the “0” system.

Hehe, so simple once you know :) Cheers, another one to program into the ships computer.

@n4p0l3on - I think screenshots should be considered proof? Check the post above, have had those programmed for a long time now.

prove it, because I wouldn't make this thread if I know that's possible.

heck I just tried again to make sure before posting this.

no you can't.

3-2-1 or 1-3-2 are impossible!

hm that's interesting...

ist a game of logic, every click adds pips to a sepcific category and distrats 0,5 from another. except one isalready empty. And now good luck witht his system. it's horrible. I would rpefer system able to set all to 0 and then clicking adds one to each category. or even justa b half, that would be easier than making the konami code look like an easy thing.

but achiveing this I start with a 0.2.4 combo.
