Why do Alliance Enforcers love Cobra Mk IVs so much?

I'm a Mahon pilot, so I spend a lot of time in Alliance space.

I've noticed that like, 2/3 Mahon NPCs fly Cobra Mk IVs.

Why is this?

Hmmmm... I wonder if I could go there and pretend to be an NPC. Would they give me a Cobra Mk IV to fly? Then I can defect back to Federation space with my ill-gotten Cobra I'm not allowed to have and be the happy miner I've always wanted to be. This might take a bit of research....

Or use an Asp Ex....

Becuase they aren't allowed a Courier or a Vulture, and the DeLacy HQ is in Alioth, so why not buy from them.

No it isn't. It is in Alliance space, but the system is Reorte.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear. Basically DeLacy is an Alliance shipyard, who just also sell their ships to others too. Core dynamics and Guatamaya only sell to Feds or Imps respectively, at least I'd assume that's the case in the lore.

Erm... No.

DeLacy is as independent as they get. Their HQ location is not a political statement.

They pre-ordered Horizons.

I don't care so much for riding on the coattails of exclusivity, but so far as I progressed in the game by then, my Cobra Mk III or Python covered all the means of the Cobra Mk IV, so no real love lost from me to the ship either way.

I never bothered with the ship outside of beta testing. Using small ships for the arbitrary choice of using small ships, and the Cobra Mk IV does have some clout, but I use small ships for other reasons, not to be limited by them, per se.

To each their own and all that though.

Cos it's an awesome ship as you well know :)

It's decent enough for what it is for the price, but most who have access to it have likely already moved well beyond its significant relevance, subjective taste preferences not withstanding.

It's a tough nut to crack, one which I wouldn't have minded delving into earlier on, but in the context of the game as a whole, well, better left to those who have a compulsion for such things.

Did you say compulsion, along with this game, in a single sentence? :)
