Why do Imperial Slave missions have to pay so well?

When I joined the Empire I decided that I would never transport slaves no matter what. And I spent 95% of my time in the game in Aisling Duval space as part of that promise so I never even saw the missions. But recently I relocated to Cemiess because there was an outbreak of bounty hunting missions there for me to scoop up while I took a break from trading. Now every other station I go to there are mission asking me to transport slaves or to source some slaves for the station and its all 5 million + everytime.

I just bought a brand new Cutter and god knows I need the money, but I don't wanna transport slaves! Why must you do this to me FD? Why?

LOL, I too tried to avoid dealing in iSlaves in this game.

But then the iSlave market exploded and I started trading them by the planetfull. It seems I can be bought.

Transporting Gold or Palladium can be equally as lucrative. Transfer your flag to a high population Extraction economy to reap those rewards and feel calm in the fact that you are not transporting human cargo.

But for me it doesn't matter. I am a Transporter. Anything, anywhere, anytime. Just don't look in the package.

A couple of things:

Are the missions all Empire faction, because the Feds tent to offer more slave type missions.

The game will do what it can; to trap you, or make you break the law and become a target. At the same time, it will send pirates to take the cargo; legal or not.

It could be the way the system is: They specialise in the slave trade etc.. If it bothers you; change to another system, which offers different trading/transporting options.

They say that the slave market, is the meta/best way to make credits, with trading; but this is a myth. As there are always, more profitable trading options out there. I used to make more with gold/etc., then I ever could with Imps. I will only trade if I want to grind for something and so my trading days, are in the past.

Personally I don’t have any qualms hauling slaves, Imperial or otherwise.

I didn’t enslave them.
I’m not utilizing them.
I won’t jettison them to pirates.
I don’t mistreat them inboard.

I’m just the pilot. I fly the ship.
Got something you need hauled? I’ll get it there.

How you came by it or what the receiver does with it is neither my problem nor concern.

"I'm just following orders"

Don't fall for that excuse!

A - You think they pay well now? Oh, sweet summer child...
B - Bear in mind that, broadly speaking, iSlaves aren't really slaves. They're indentured servants.

In general islaves have more rights and a better standard of living than poor people without corporate patronage in Federation space. iSlaves are required to be paid.
You legally can't just capture a person and make them an islave. Someone sells themselves into slavery to become an islave.
When an islave sells themselves, the islave is the person who gets the money (normally to pay of debts). Slavery is normally for a set time, not 'for ever'.
Having said that, there are reports of distant colonies treating islaves badly, refusing them there rights, never letting them free... so just only sell to high-tech places.

Mission prices scale with the base commodity price, and Imperial Slaves are the most expensive purchasable commodity.

It wouldn't really be an ethical dilemma if you couldn't make significant money off it. (Though the fact that all factions in the galaxy approve of slavery - just some take a bit of a NIMBY attitude to it - means it's less of an interesting dilemma than it should be)

You can even make 10x times that amount of money when bulk-smuggling them to Blackmarkets in Aisling space :D
Just because it's prohibited doesn't mean that there is no demand on iSlaves :D

The slaves are already dead and have been mashed up into paste.
That’s the only way the cargo cannisters make sense.
I have no issue transporting slave paste.
It’s nutritious and delicious!

human trafficking does pay well... and it probably should do. I do wish however there were more consequences for this life style.

PErsonally my character has no problem with imperial slaves but never ever hauls normal slaves.....

When I transport the slaves, I always use faon, no boosts, without breathtaking manoeuvres to make them feel comfortable onboard.

"Slaves" are something of a misnomer in ED, because they are paid in some sense - it's self-imposed, to clear any debt they might have. Apparently the imps are particularly afraid of debt.

So a closer term is "serfs".

Either way, they're gaining something for their work, and it was optional. So...have at 'em OP, you're only doing 'em a favour.
