Why do my big cats keep getting boxed if they climb on things?

I have a problem with big cats and climbing frames. For instance, I had some Jaguars and set up a few climbing frames for them. Checked transversable area and all was fine. Yet they climb on them once and get boxed and taken back to the door, then they never climb again.
Can anyone explain why?

Maybe they can't get back down and starve?

That's bizarre, sounds like something you should report to the issue tracker... sounds like a bug.
