Why do Npcs keep attacking me?

For over a week now I have been constantly Interdicted randomly shot at and followed into a station by Npcs. That's totally normal the problem is there behavior. Such as a clipper that said something like high value target located engaging now. He proceeded to follow me as I popped out at a station I turned to face this foe to find out he's clean but firing pa at me which barely tickled my shields. But he didn't turn wanted after I sat there in the no fire zone being pelted by a clean ship waiting for him to either turn wanted or for the station to kill him. .nothing so I proceeded to dock and he just left after awhile. Then I took a bigger ship and went signal source hunting. Just as I jump into super cruise I'm Interdicted by an elite wanted anaconda. First thought oh it's a pirate. ..except I have no cargo and I'm allied to his faction and he didn't say a word just yanked me out of super cruise and opened fire I dealt with him and jumped back up and found a juicy uss popped in and loved the horde or needed materials. As soon as I open my cargo scoop I get a new contact a wanted fdl saying something like I have been looking for you. Being a combat pilot I opened fire and killed him....for a 400cr bounty voucher ?
I have no missions no cargo not wanted anywhere and I'm allied with everyone in this system, I'm not part of power play so why am I being bugged so much?

I had a similar issue, the game removed my dormant bounty from my transactions panel (even tho I still had the bounty) and I went to the station in deciat got scanned by security who said 'everything looks fine commander' then suddenly became wanted and station opened fire on me. So long story short you might have a bounty but the game isnt showing it up.

you have a bounty somewhere, I had guys follow me out 2 kylies out in the black hunting me for a 10 grand bounty. once its cleared ye be all reet

I feel your pain, I have no bounty on my head and paid all my fines but for some reason there is one Fer De Lance / Federal Assault Ship which is piloted by the same NPC following me between 3 systems... I'll never forget his name: Zaphod Dent

I believe I have found my arch nemesis

It's got to be something to do with engineer material or cargo... and it's getting very boring. Humped my way to Farseer with some nice praeosydium(?sp) and a few mats only to be totalled by an elite rated ASP... jeez.

Since 2.1, I've lost 5 Pythons and a Corvette. I have no bounties, no PP pledge.. nada. I know I'm by no means a skilled combat pilot but this persistent interdiction nonsense from deadly/elite NPC's every time I hit the SC button is becoming a real chore.
It seems I'm not allowed by the game to enter willingly or otherwise into combat with even an ASP without it cheating and giving me a rebuy screen as a present for trying. I should have just did my usual and boosted away... but that is really as tiresome as the rebuy screens on 5 Pythons. It's not the cost of rebuy... it's the frustration of it all. Cheating Ai... hate it. It's made the combat side of ED work instead of play... some folks enjoy it, all well and good. I used to when I went looking for it in a res site...not when I'm just floating around looking for relaxation.

For the first time ever since I started playing ED over a year ago, I flung my controller and just switched the damned game off as I looked at yet another rebuy screen. The thought of setting out to mine that praeosydium(?sp) again just isn't on the cards.... not tonight, not for a good while. I don't get any enjoyment out of ED at the moment, it's all frustration.

Spent the rest of tonight catching up on the Witcher DLC....

Have you ever though they (NPC's) just do not like us...

I don't think it's discriminatory, they come after all of us sooner or later. The exception (to being discriminatory) if you take on certain missions or do powerplay.

Im having the same issue, and I'm carrying 1 tonne of praseodymium, yesterday I had a mk 3 cobra attacking me, I'm in a clipper 7a shields and 2 pulse lazers and 2 multi cannons, he took my shields down within seconds then came the infinite missile volley, by the time I'd sorted him my hull was down to 76%, now if I were to go up against a fully a rated clipper with a Cobra I don't think I'd do that amount of damage or last that long either.

Hmmm? Loaded up with 416t of cargo and took of to a community goal. ...completely left alone by all Npcs. Interesting. Also I had system authority scan my many times in this system. No bounty or fines.

I'm afraid the answer to all these issues is the same.

Fight the interdictions. Do not cut throttle and fight the ships unless you are ready for it.
Carry extra cargo to buy them off with if that fails.

THEN :D

Spend the day in a state of such readiness WAITING for them to interdict you. Carry some extra cargo as bait.

See the change in mechanic v.s. mindset?

Fd is like... 'lets come up with a way for people to break from their comfort zones!'

Lost an ASP yesterday finding all this out. Logging didn't even help.

Guys it's random. I have spent a week with Soontill Relics and Praseodymium cargo. Sometimes it's quiet and sometimes it's constant interdictions. However, no re-buys since the 1.6 Days of Purple. I submit, let them have a good taste of my mines, then go back and collect their goodies plus the bounty. Only Elite Vipers do I run away from. I think mines got a slight buff again at the last update. I don't turn around and take them on - mines are all you need.

Sounds pretty much like you have abandoned or failed a mission for this faction. Than they will kill you for this mistake. You are not wanted, have no cargo, no mission. They hunt you because you failed a previous mission :)
The thing is....in normal circumstances they should become wanted after firing at you.
Are you sure that you don't fly in anarchic system?

could be also the case, that you took a mission and either failed it or abandoned it. this might be especially the case, if your npc has the same name (but not necessary the same faction) if he shows up. i had an FDL following me for a week after abandoning a mission for an anarchy minor faction.

p.s. ninja'd...

Yeah it's the npc's triggered by angering a faction - it's not a bounty per se, they've actually taken a hit out on you. This can happen when failing / abandoning missions, also possibly (not sure) if you take missions for one faction that results in you p***ing off another.

These npc's have slightly unusual rules. They've always got no bounty on them until they actually open fire on you, at which point yeah they're worth a whole 400cr. But killing them will get rid of them. They chase you round system to system (not necessarily appearing after every jump) and proceed to follow you round supercruise, but never interdict you. They like to wait till you've dropped down to normal space before finally lobbing shots at you. To avoid getting a bounty yourself, always wait for them to fire the first shot. Or if you have an interdictor yourself, just wait until they pop up when you drop into an anarchy star & let them have it.

If you still get them coming after you've killed one it probably means there's more than one after you. These guys always have persistent names.

do you have "report crimes gainst me" turned on?
^ good point to avoid getting a bounty in policed space you must wait for them to fire first AND have report crimes switched on. They're never wanted before the crime against you is committed (shooting at you), so if you don't have report crimes on then YOU will always be the one getting a bounty, as even though it's self defence you're still technically shooting a clean ship.

Its called Elite Dangerous for a reason. The NPC were fed up being treated as dodos time to raise your game commander. Winter is coming.

I stuck a note to the back of your ship saying "Shoot me"

Think Mung0's right on all counts. And "yes" you can p€%s factions off if you side with other factions.
