why do we get nothing for killing enemys In our space.

numerous times I am interdicted and attacked by enemy agent npc's working in my powers space, while I'm delivering Fortification or expansion cargo. Killing them gets you nothing, so what is the point of engaging. I understand that you get 15 merits for going to their systems to take them out and undermine their efforts, but In my space nothing. Seems to me that enemys should get you merits, especially if they interdict and attack you. I understand that if I have report crimes against me that they will become wanted if I let them fire on me first, but a 200 cr bounty is nothing compared to the time and ammo wasted

I would say that any ship belonging to another faction is not necessarily undermining your Power. You may go to Torval space to buy discounted slaves, then sell them on Pranav or Archon's black markets.
Powers are competing, not at war with each others. Now if an hostile is undermining, he would carry a bounty, which you can collect by taking him down. It would make no sense to encourage you to destroy "honest" ship within your territory.

Granted, quite a good point. However, if an agent of a foreign faction is interdicting me, especially in case i am carrying PP stuff, i would count that as attempt to undermine. Maybe thats something where a line could be drawn, at least regarding NPC.
