Why do we need mission timers?

I ran across a bug twice now involving timers. They both specifically involved finding escape pods. They list as having 6-7 hours time limits but fail after 90 minutes. I'm honestly wondering why missions have timers at all, or why they don't at least last for a few days?

Some of us work full time, go to school full time, and have kids. We just want a nice game to sit back and unwind with but getting these missions done in time is turning into a major buzz kill.

For the mean time, I think I'm just going to find the pods first and then grab the missions while I already have them.

Why?

That does sound a bit buggy. Be sure to send that in, because I'm 99% positive that's not an intended behavior of the game.

I do wonder why missions give us SO MUCH time, though...like, seriously? 20 pirates in one system and they think I need THREE DAYS?

I mean I can sympathize with not having a life but some of us have to put things down and take care of business. Sucks having to keep coming back to failed missions because we can only put down 30 minutes of play at a time.

It because the Original Elite had Timers for missions. Please note you don't have to do the missions. I think Frontier want to have timers on the missions because over time the game will change.

I can understand that missions may have to expire because of things like updates, but if that is the case then the mission timers should be a lot longer. They should be measured in days and not hours.

Well a few hours is fine. It just means players like you has to think. Can I do this before I have to work or go to school or bedtime. If it a emergency the game not important . Please note the missions you talk about only take about 30 or so minutes. There also mission that can take days which you could of taken.

Note There also thousands of games where you can do Quests as you please. I can Load up Lord of the Rings online and finish the mission I started 3 years ago.

you get 46 min long haul runs. i like them, takes you atleast 30 mins to get back to the bubble. some times you take 4 of them. bearly make it.

or like a friend of mine who had 5 left with a few minuets each. He tried to deliver the one ending soonest 1st and it ran out of time as he was pulling up the BB.
from then on he tried to do them in order of time left, and proceeded to run out of time for each and every one of them 1 by 1..

As he says. if he had decided the 1st one was a lost cause he would have been able to do the other 4. But he chose all or bust.

So they do have a reason..

The behavior you state however is not as intended. 9 hour missions have 9 hours. il some times take one and then go off to have dinner and family time and come back with enough time to do it.
