Just had a look at Coriolis before posting and, apparently, a Phantom configured identically to an AspX can jump 1.5Ly further (72.05Ly vs 69.45Ly).
Having said that, my AspX can jump 80Ly (maximum) and, due to the removel of the ADS, I'll be able to bung a 3E cargo rack in it to bring stuff back (should that turn out to be useful) so I'm not really in any rush to replace it with a Phantom.
Granted, I could probably take a couple of the legacy modules off my AspX (though not the lightweight sensors) and bung 'em onto a Phantom to give that a similar benefit but, y'know, those modules were built for the AspX and they're staying on it.
The only thing that could persuade me to change my mind was if it turned out there was something out there that requires both of the free slots a Phantom has in order to interact with it.
For example, my AspX will have 1 free C3 slot as of 3.3 but if it turns out that there's something out there that requires recon limpets or research limpets and requires a cargo rack then maybe it'll be worth building a Phantom.
Alternatively, maybe there'll be something corrosive out there that we can bring back - if we have a CR rack fitted - and the Phantom can fit a C4 CR rack whereas the AspX can't because the free slot is a C3.
Course, having two free slots means you could fit a cargo rack and a repair controller to a Phantom if you're worried about taking damage too.
Second-guessing FDev, given all the fuss they made about implementing changes in a way that wouldn't be prejudicial against anybody already out exploring, I have a sneaky feeling that there won't be anything new out there which requires a different loadout.
If there is anything new out there, it'll be stuff that anybody who's already got a cargo rack fitted will be able to collect.
Which means my 80Ly AspX, once fitted with a cargo rack, will still be good for anything.
