CQC Why do you play CQC? Discussion / thoughts.

- Do you play for rank?
I presume most of the ED players start their journey with CQC to get rid of the Helpless rank from the right hand panel. Do you continue to play for rank? Is CQC elite rank your goal?

- Do you play because you enjoy it?

- Do you play to become really good at it and 'become the best CQC player' if possible? (that's sounds a bit like being a paralympics champion to me, because real PvP is in the main game but nvm haha)

Personally I was bored with the main game and that drove me towards that ARENA thingy in the main menu last winter. I was very late to the party, when I started to play CQC there were already CQC elite players with 2 years of experience dominating the games I was in, but that didn't put me off.. What did I have to lose? Nothing.
Now 6 months later I still I play CQC because I truly enjoy it, having a blast in CQC always gives me a buzz :D I play casually purely for fun so I'm not as competitive as some other players, but it doesn't mean I'll just let you kill me ;)
I like CQC because it's easily accessible PvP experience right from the main menu. But don't fool yourself, being good at CQC is not gonna make you PvP ace in the main game, two completely different things [big grin]

No. No. No. Yes. I did at one point but no longer.

I think I've largely already mined out the entertainment value I can get from CQC, so I'm more or less retired. But every once in a while I'll get the itch, and if matchmaking is cooperative I'll play. It's been a while since anything in CQC felt "new" though.

To me CQC is still fairly new so I won't be bored of it very soon.

I'm slowly starting to play the main game again, but I like to join CQC whenever I feel like it.

I play it because it's fun. Because there is some kind of chalenge like when i meet you the other day :D and you reckt me.

Because it's not as borring as the current pvp in game. I guess there is a lot less constraints too, like money / ships / module / etc. So you can actually focus on playing

Aye, for the rank and the system permit. One day I'll have all the rankings and all the system permits - but I might be old and grey by then :)

i have not played for some time, but i do want to get back to it at some point.

I play because it is fun.. and because i would like to get that pass. It is highly unlikely i will ever come close to elite unless FD expand on the content significantly. (i do not understand why we dont have more maps TBH. i struggle to believe it would be hard to make a new map every few month using the existing assets. A couple of ground ones would be superb.

Wanting to get my CQC rank up was a main factor in me starting to play it, although I started playing it at a time when I wanted to branch out into different activities in the game, such as mining and more pvp focused combat.

When starting out in CQC, not really. Hard to enjoy it when you're getting dominated in DM by experienced players. It reminded me of when I first got into counter-strike, so I knew the more I played CQC I'll be able to develop skill over time. Recently I've been playing CQC more than I ever have and have gained more knowledge in the maps, with more focus on having a strategy rather than just going around the map trying to get kills like I'd when starting out.

When you start enjoying something that's competitive, naturally you play more with the aim to get better at it. I don't think anyone starts CQC with the intention of becoming the best CQC player there is. I'd say without a competitive gamemode and ranking system (the one in CS:GO for example), it's hard to define who are the best players as currently there's on DM and any skill level can play against each other. That leads to experienced players dominating new players, and in many cases that unfortunately drives new players away from CQC. :(

I think there will always be some players dominating the game i.e. rank 30 players will be dominating the game with low rank players. Not long ago I was a new cqc player and I know how it is. The best thing you can do is just keep playing and get better, it works! Probably not what you wanted to hear though.
