Why does Frontier seem hate Jurassic Park so much?

Seriously, us who can't afford a next gen consoles basically got swindled. The JP era in sandbox has no aviaries or aquariums, literally the main aspect of this game that was hyped up! I could deal with the other limitations of consoles, but as someone who really prefers the JP era aesthetic, I want to not be forced to choose the JW just to enjoy the best features the game has to offer. Frontier, please tell me you plan to fix this!

TBH, I suspect it has more to do with Universal than Frontier.

Universal wants to promote Jurassic World above all else and I suspect given how long it took Frontier to get JP stuff into the first game it's more an issue of them having their hands tied behind their back. After all, neither the aviary nor lagoon were really referenced outside the Jurassic Park novels - at least until JP3 - so it could be that the aviary shows up in that Chaos Theory mode. If it has one. I'm not too clear on that atm.

Alternatively it may be that we have no art for the Lagoon or Aviary in Jurassic Park - at least not a lot of it - and creating new models for the one Jurassic Park map might've been a bit too much. Maybe Sandbox mode lets you do it?

Nope. Neither are usable in sandbox mode. The aviary has no excuse. There are two models for that building, one of which fits perfectly with the JP buildings. Seriously Frontier, if you read this, I don't care how lazy a JP version has to be designed. Just make the more cage looking aviary to the "JP era". For the lagoons, Just give it a darker color scheme and if you really want to make it look different you can put ammonite fossils on the walls of the aquatic viewing galleries. I'm not asking you to do anything groundbreaking, just let people who can't mix eras be able to have all the animals they want regardless of era. If you really want to make something great though, maybe use the viewing dome from the Tylosaurus exhibit in JP the Game.

In that case I suspect it's either Universal or just a lack of resources at the time of release. Lots of little things get cut in order to make sure the game is functioning properly on release - maybe those are just ones that weren't deemed super vital compared to something like including X dinosaur or finishing squishing some game-breaking bugs.

It's really annoying. I feel like I am locked out of half the content in the game cause I want to build a JP themed park in sandbox. The Aviaries you build in the campaign, which I just finished would work fine. Just give it a JP theme and let us have them or at least remove the DFW themes from them. I didn't notice anything DFW themed on them so they would fit well. But we should still have a choice between a JP style aviary and the JW style glass dome aviary in sandbox. We want more choices and not let. That's what all the complaints were about in the first game. It's why people asked for the campaign maps in sandbox in the first game.

I have a feeling that this game got hit hard by the 2020 Covid 19 stuff. It kind of turned the world upside down for a while. If I was going to look for something to blame it would be that.

I agree, the metal aviary looks perfect for JP style.

I can sympathize, you saw my other thread, Jurassic Park is definitely not the priority. The lack of parity between JP and JW is a letdown, I at least expected to have JP equivalents for the Aviary and Lagoon. The JP Aviary even existed in RtJP first and its in JWE2's Campaign albeit gutted into an empty dome. Its better than in JWE which didn't even have JP viewing galleries and platforms, but it is so bizarre that these huge new features were not a big priority. The JP Chaos Theory maps would have benefitted immensely from the variety.

I have a sneaking suspicion you are right about the whole pandemic situation though, its just the bizarre decision to prioritize other things over the parity that's an issue. The more things they add to the game, the more work it will be to establish parity later between the two eras. If that happens, I fear we won't actually achieve said parity and that worries me tremendously.

I wouldn't blame covid. This was supposed to come out alongside JWD and that won't be out until summer. They should have just kept that plan and worked on it until the movie came out.

There are a lot of problems with that that game makers have that filmmakers don't - at least not quite as severely.

First: Financial statements. Every company releases financial statements to appease their stockholders/board and a huge one involves the holiday season. It's where huge games are released and where a ton of money is made. If they wait until the film comes out, that might be in January or later - which would make their financial statements look like a pretty hefty loss to the people who decide whether or not they get to work.

Second: Income. Publishers can't necessarily pay their employees indefinitely without, well, income. At some point the game needs to come out and make its money back and waiting a couple extra months could cause some financial grief on that front, too.

Third: Contractual obligations. Just because Dominion got stalled doesn't mean that the date on their contract with Universal says anything different. As such they'd need to release on schedule whether they want to or not. They may have a time limit we're unaware of.

Basically: there are a lot of unfortunate reasons why it's harder for them to stall. It's not as simple as just waiting for the movie to come out.

It was a missed opportunity. Hopefully if they do add it they will also give us JP3 and Lost World Pterandons.

What you said is all fine and dandy except for one aspect: they went all this time without mentioning this at all. It seems more like they intended to do this and avoided telling the players in order to not dissuade people from buying the game; in other words, a sketchy InGen like business move. If they said something prior to launch like "Hey, JP era won't have aquatics or aviaries at launch, but we'll fix that post launch!" I would still not be happy, but at least I would know its going to be fixed and it would mean I would still be willing to buy at full pre-launch.

They must have had different people work on JP that aren't the same employees from jwe1. And it shows. Just like them not knowing if raptors were in ever movie in a love stream.. these guys ain't big fans of the franchise. So here's what I've noticed is missing or changed:

Visitor Center is different and not as accurate or well made as last year. The window shudders or whatever they are are actually teal in the movie not the color they used. The kitchen scene area has also been removed.

Emergency Bunker: has been completely changed and turned into a huge monstrosity! It looks nothing like the bunker from JP. They need to add the old bunker back for real! Yikes the new 1 is ugly. And it's too big!

Only 2 road signs return: no aviary, helipad, or other signs they've all been cut for some reason

No aviary when we should at least have the pre-made 1 from last year

No lagoon for some reason

No returning raptor paddock

No JP Cafe, no JP Gifts: none of the rtjp buildings really came back. The ones that did have all been changed for the worse.

The helipad arrival helicopter has been changed and is no longer the correct InGen helicopter like it should be. This should be fixed so the arrival helicopter is different from the ranger team ones.

Goat had its spot or spots removed

They removed the T-Rex Bathroom decoration!!!! Why?

They changed too much or took to much away from JP. Please give us RTJP content back and add it back to the game on jwe2.

Not to pile on, but I also suspect that outsourcing might be a potential factor for the differential. Jurassic World is the current era of films and Universal pushes it very hard, we have seen them covering up and pushing Jurassic Park to the sidelines or limited time events. Makes sense from a marketing standpoint you want to push product that aligns with your present business, but I do find it sad we are seeing what amounts to a slow erasure of Jurassic Park. Sure, there are lots of easter eggs and some occasionally neat stuff, but overall I am seeing the tropical vibe being supplanted by the clean, sterile Jurassic World aesthetic.

Speaking of Frontier they are likely just aligning with Universal's agenda and put more resources into the Jurassic World sections of the game, Jurassic Park is there but not as well represented. I also think its a matter of just general allocation, a lot went into the dinosaurs as it rightfully should have which explains why there are fewer new species but could also explain why less work was done for other aspects of the game. I just wish Frontier would just come out and say they'd patch these in later so at least the era parity can be achieved.

Lagoons we have an argument didn't exist in Jurassic Park, but it can't be that hard to create an era equivalent for them, there is an established aesthetic they are already using for this era that just needs to be tossed on the Lagoon. If they went the extra mile to distinguish it, even better.

I completely understand the sign issue. As a scientist who has worked for real zoos in the past, the signs were very important to me. I made an online JP in JWE1 that people I know could tour via for the Ford Explorers and learn about the genera in the park. I used the signs during the automated tour to que where the next exhibit would be and what type of animals where in the enclosure. I wish all the signs were back to allow for a more streamlined tour for JWE2. It would be better if I could add text to the signs so that viewers who aren't hardcore fans of the films could know the names of the dinosaurs they are looking at.
