Why does it take so long?

I have played other MMORPG's and the weekly downloads dont take half as long as the weekly ones for ED do. Is there anyway at all to throttle up a bit???

Depends on both the size of the update and the number of player connections as well as the routing paths the p2p connections need to make. Add to that whether its seeded /leeched etc.

I've had WoW updates that have taken hours due to crawling slower than a tortoise with no legs. Heh!

Yeah I know I was playing WoW for years up until the Panda fiasco, so I am used to downloads taking time, but they really are excessivly slow for ED, currently seeing download speeds of 0.1 mb , o.3mb and thats really slow.

Be patient, this was a massive update compared to other games. It all depends on the developers pacing and size of updates.

Nothing to do with FD methinks. I started to download the 1.1 patch and was in game 20 mins later.

I have been trying since last night to upgrade to 1.1, but the download repeatedly fails. Worked the last 7 days and today was first day off. Managed to get to 3/4 download today after without an error (after 8-9 hours) then download failed and went back to start. Desperation leads me to download launcher again but even that is getting stuck.
Hopefully things will be better tomorrow :)

It's definitely slow at FD's end, the download is using almost none of my bandwidth at the moment. I also just updated world of tanks (700mb+) and was watching a YouTube vid in HD, neither of which effected the speed of the Elite update that is still chugging along slowly, it peaks at about 1mb/s and drops down to almost nothing at random.

Must be your internet, maybe location is effecting your DL not your bandwidth. When my dl stops using all my bandwidth i close and repoen the launcher and it seems to speed back up to 100%
