Why does my launcher change?

I have a slightly strange setup.. let me explain

Game is installed via steam to drive D
I get a new shiny SSD and stick windows on it.. drive C
I use steammover to move elite from D to C

I start Elite via Steam I get this launcher

I start the launcher from drive D I get this launcher (notice more game options in game version select menu)

I start the launcher from drive C (which is a symlink from drive D) I get this beauty (hello old friend)

I'm not even logged in on the final example!


Just wondered what gives? And, why don't all my game modes show up in the steam launcher?

Orange is the Elite dangerous launcher.
Blue is the Elite dangerous Horizons launcher.

I have a 2nd account without horizons and my launcher actively changes depending on which one I login to. Steam makes that a bit more complex for you (both of mine are not steam) but the principal is the same.

Tl: dr the orange one doesn't recognise you have horizons.

Thanks CMDR alex o7, that clears things up a little.

I've realised of course that when you launch from steam (with horizons) you get the option to choose which version you launch so of course they're different, my mistake
